I think It was maybe an espn article? Said something like “…but some insiders are claiming it’s not true”

    I think it’s probably true
Thought this was funny and likely is accurate on the options.

“The choices seem to be Jets or retire, unless he’s willing to activate for the ultra-awkward option and return to Green Bay. And given that retirement would cost nearly $60 million and relegate him to “special guest star” status for the Tom Brady Hall of Fame enshrinement weekend, don’t be surprised if Rodgers is, by the middle of the week, officially a Jet.”

Fantastic signing. Might be the best kicker in the league.
A great kicker is huge, and it is as hard as it has been in a long time to kick. Look at all the critical misses last season.

    Justin Tucker still breathes
He's also 33 years old, and not on the market (as far as I know?). Also, Tucker may be historically still more accurate for his entire career, but compare the two in the most recent seasons, and the calculus changes.

    2022: Gay 93.3% (8th), Tucker 86.0% (21st)
    2021: Tucker 94.6% (4th), Gay 94.1% (5th)
    2020: Tucker 89.7% (16th), Gay 87.5% (17th)
    2019: Tucker 96.6% (4th), Gay 77.1% (28th)

They're basically the same now, but Gay appears to be trending up while Tucker appears maybe to be trending down. Trend analysis may be confounded by small sample size and Tucker having up/down years.

Tucker’s also played his whole career outdoors

This guy is pretty good in the red zone.

*But, Jackson wants a fully guaranteed contract for a long-term deal.

*He's missed five games in each of the past two seasons with injuries, and he has never completed a full season

*The risk will never disappear; eventually, it will get worse with age.

Spot on! A hard no here. I don’t think anybody is pursuing him. He is an idiot. This is designed to gin up interest.

“The man who represents himself has a fool for a client.”

He has no agent. He is the top running QB, an MVP, and has no shoe deal while others less than him do. Why? No agent to get it for him. Allen was drafted in the same draft and round, he made $66 million the last two years, Jackson, $24 million. It is commonly believed that Jackson and his mom will not hire an agent because to do so would be admitting they were wrong in not doing so earlier so in ignorant arrogance they have little to no interest.

The most interest seems to be from Washington.

    Update on the Rodgers situation.

“Some believe the Jets are lowballing the Packers. The Packers, in turn, recognize that the Jets need Rodgers, badly. With Derek Carr and Jimmy Garoppolo going elsewhere, the Jets don’t have a viable Plan B — unless they plan to make a run at Lamar Jackson or to try to trade for someone like Matthew Stafford.”

“From New York’s perspective, what are the Packers going to do, keep Rodgers? Last week, CEO Mark Murphy said that Rodgers would be the starter in 2023 only “if things don’t work out the way we want them.”

“From Green Bay’s perspective, they seem to believe Rodgers is choosing between playing for the Jets or retiring. And the cap hit for the Packers would actually be much lower in 2023, if his retirement is processed after June 1. It’s costing them more than $24 million in 2023 cap dollars to trade him before June 1.”

“Through it all, Rodgers holds the nuclear option. He can tell the Packers to get ready for one more year with Rodgers on the roster at a price tag of nearly $60 million.”

“While nothing has been confirmed, all signs currently point toward Aaron Rodgers soon getting traded to the Jets.”

“That’s backed up by New York targeting receiver Allen Lazard, who shares a solid connection with Rodgers.”

“Now there’s reporting that another one of Rodgers’ favorite targets could be on the way to join Rodgers with the Jets.”

“According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Jets have Randall Cobb “on their radar” for the coming days of free agency.”

I really have no dog in the "who's the best kicker in the league" hunt. The underlying point is that this was a fantastic signing, at an appropriate salary based on league peers.
Once you get up to the percentage in the high 80’s I don’t think a few points here or there matters. I’m glad the colts got him.
