I ordered one of the ceramic plated ones and it arrived Saturday. The only complaint I have with it is the key is poorly staked.

I ordered one of the ceramic plated ones and it arrived Saturday. The only complaint I have with it is the key is poorly staked.

A quick smack with a hammer and punch can make the stakes look however you like. The early AR's were not staked at all, some of them did work loose, but many of them never came loose. Some of the "neat freaks" would be in the habit of taking carrier key off to "detail clean" everything. I never pulled one off except to replace it when misalignment of the gass tube wore the tip off center.

I am glad to see some of the parts becoming available again.

I know how to properly stake the key, I just expect a little better from a $300 BCG. I don't see it as a big deal, I doubt the screws will work loose under my mad operator skillz.

So has anyone done live fire with the AR Stoner (a.k.a. SMI Mfg.) BCG yet?

I ordered one of the ceramic last week and the bolt face had little chips in the coating. Sent it back. Had buyer's remorse the second I ordered it and the QC with the chipping was just what I needed to justify (in my mind) sending it back even though they have no q asked return.
