Anyone using a 6.5 grendel pistol for deer? If you are, are you using different load data for the shorter barrel. Considering getting a 14" single shot for next year. I need something new to me to respark my reloading and hunting interests. Just bored I guess. Thanks.

Something like this? Remington XR-100 that was a 7mm BR and re-barreled to a 6.5 Grendel. AllenM did Cerakote the metal and the stock donut looks different now.

You thinking CVA Scout or? Just curious, that Scout has been tempting me. lol
Yes sir. I get the itch to buy one every time I see one advertised for sale. I've had contenders and encores but I'd like to try a scout v2 to compare. Most reviews are good.

I would run a 12.5” Grendel any day to reasonable range. Hunt mule deer down to ground hogs. Seriously love this round, buy all the ammo you can when you find it or roll your own.

My LGS has had a bunch on order for months (year?) and not able to get it filled. 3 years ago it was plentiful and cheap!
Yeah 2020 changed a lot of stuff. I haven't even seen Hornady Black EDL stuff anywhere, much less the Hornady Custom.
There are some boxes of wolf on Lucky Gunner if you're in a bind. I've got maybe a few hundred hunting rounds left.

Federal does a yearly run of this ammo. When it's available, get a bunch. It's a great round for animals up to hogs.

I reload Speer 90gr TNt for my 6.5 Grendel. It's a great bullet and the expansion is slowed down by the Grendel velocity and makes it an excellent hunting round.
