Back then we wondered about Johnson. House Republicans couldn't agree on a replacement. But then Johnson emerges and he's someone the tradcons can live with? Had to be a reason for that.

I remember people remarking on his dismal financial situation. Wonder how that has improved since becoming speaker.

This was obvious at the time. Grifters gotta grift.
The GOP was on this track with or without McCarthy. It’s their genetic code. Talk about what needs to change during the election campaign, then find excuses of why others have forced them to have to side with democrats because it moves the nation forward.

i prefer they do nothing. At least they can’t screw it up.

As much as I would like to believe this and likely have, at some point, even said it myself, it just is not true. Who says this? I suspect a few, but the truth is, as I have posted here before, we are more conservative than even most red state republican voters.

This percentage may be higher now with what is currently happening but I believe many in INGO would say deport them all about illegals but don’t believe a majority of even republicans would agree.

A majority of republican voters would not agree that we need to squeeze the belt of finance on government until blood shows to pay off debt, but I bet only a few, even, republicans believe that. The government largesse is so deep that if it really started happening most of INGO would squeal. Government has its tentacles in every facet of business.

Current congress approval is 13%, couldn’t find recent numbers but historically most individual congress critters have upper 50’s-70’s percentages of approval in their districts. While we may be unsatisfied with our reps the majority is happy with theirs. They just don’t like what others congress critters are doping or not doing.

The republicans are what a truly divided congress looks like, the dems ability to unite is their power. And I still marvel at how they get stop farming/farmers stop plastics and oil/auto workers, just to name two, under the same tent…

This is on them for voting in Johnson instead of a more conservative speaker, and one with a backbone.

They wanted to keep things as is and they voted in a rino with Bible verses.
Do you agree with my post here? “They“ are less conservative than we are. “They” got what they wanted, we more conservative types did not.

Why we need a 3rd party to take in us more conservative voters.
Never happen so the divide will remain.
Let’s unpack this a bit. The left will be the left, so no changes expected by me there. You agree?

Then we split the republican party in half and call them conservatives and rinos. If the rinos like legislation they can easily vote with dems on about anything, it would be rare they would join the conservatives on legislation as they have so little in common.

The big thing they have in common is both want to wield the power of their combined forces against the dems power. Without each other, they are both just minority parties. Republicans/RINO’s/Conservatives are in the same tent only because they must be to have any real power to go against the dems power.

I do not believe HK is in the same part of the party as you and I are. This pattern can be found all over INGO, even in the Jim Lucas thread.

Do you really think conservatives splitting off into a third party will make a positive difference?

Yes because I think conservatives would control 25% or more of congress be it state, or federal.
This will IMO force the Rinos who ride the fence to pick a side.
Join with the new unbending constitution loving conservative party, or join the Democrat's. This would happen every time they vote on a bill/bills.

    Will it happen? No.

Are you saying you believe the rinos will join the conservatives more than the dems? I think not. The rinos will join the dems because the dems will have all the power, including the speaker. Committee positions will be at dems pleasure, conservatives will be locked out of them. Reps like Jordan will never touch a gavel because of this power arrangement.

Conservatives will be labeled and blacklisted. We now likely have more power than our numbers begat us…

Never said that. It will make them decide who they want to support instead of division like it is now.

The Republican house is divided and it cannot stand.

Got it. So who do you think the rinos would align with if they split? Do you believe this will be better for conservative voters or worse? I think worse.

What I sense from you and several other good conservatives is frustration and exhaustion, a longing for clear lines as to who represents whom that a split would highlight. But to get this split I believe it will diminish conservatives power as I believe we have power greater than our numbers…

I believe the rinos as we call them. I consider them 90's Democrats the way they align themselves. Conservatives have no voice anymore as is IMO.

I believe that the modern establishment Republicans will vote with whoever it is they think will farther their agenda. I believe they will flip flop like they do now.

    Agreed.

Also agreed. I would add the flip flop we see is because the two factions, rinos/conservatives want to maintain their power equal to the dems power. If the dems get the majority power the rinos only source of power is to suck up to those dems in power. In that case we conservatives would have no power and could not even suck up to get power.

I believe the current situation as it sits gives conservatives the most power and a split leaves them with no power at all. The current situation also gives conservatives the ability, as I am always saying here, to recruit, fund, and support more conservative candidates to gain more control of the party and more aligned with our views…

I've been trying to follow your posts on this and tell if I'm wrong but what I think you're saying in a nutshell is it's better for the party if conservatives learn to work with the rinos to unify the party than it is for the rinos to work with the democrats.

The democrats have their different factions as well, but they are pretty good at dropping the infighting thus unifying the party when they need too.

That’s because the democrat party is full of democrats that band together and over half of the GOP is democrats that won’t band together with the conservatives.

Pretty much. Do you believe if the rinos and conservatives split, conservatives would have more or less power? Would Jim Jordan get near a chairmanship? Much less an important one?

The democrats have their different factions as well, but they are pretty good at dropping the infighting thus unifying the party when they need too.
They are. As I referenced above they put some weird coalitions together and control the infighting.

I believe conservatives need to get off their butts, acknowledge how bad things are, and work hard and fund the candidates they want in primaries, and stop all the whining about what “they” do, the establishment, and others to just take control. The conservatives can do it but must get out of the normalcy bias zone and or defeatist thinking…

It takes the power away from the Rinos to do nothing. It makes them as powerless as the conservatives. They will have 2 choices in front of them, be supporters of the democrats or be supporters of the conservatives.

Have I not clearly explained the power structure that exists between dems, rinos, and conservatives? Can you recognize that there are a lot of purple districts out there that are very happy with their rino representatives? But that by aligning with them in one team the conservatives get more power than they could if they were on their own?

Please answer this, is there any scenario other than what we currently have that Jim Jordan is a powerful committee chair? If there is, please explain how that scenario works?
