Just wanted to see if this is a thing people deal with / get suggestions.

The underside of the trigger guard causes some discomfort where my middle finger rests against it during shooting/general manipulation. I included a photo of the beginning of the indentation it'll make on my finger. Yes, I'm a baby — let's get past that for now.

Basically, I'm looking to see if this is a normal thing, or if a different trigger guard with a smoother surface will solve it. (Still my first rifle, I don't know if there are other styles for this particular part). Or maybe it's an issue with the grip?

    Thanks in advance! :)

You might have to get one made that fills the hole and gets rid of the edge.
Now there's a problem that needs a solution.

Do you have a particular trigger guard you'd pair this with?
Just the BCM trigger guard. I'm not in love with it. It's plastic, but better than stock. The RRA posted earlier looks like a deal for $16.

If you don't feel like changing out the trigger guard or pistol grip, Ergo Grips makes a product called "The Gapper" that fills in that area.

You can use it with most pistol grips, it's cheap ($3-ish) and just plain works. No need to disassemble your lower, either.

OP , I just looked at mine, and it looks the same, I’ve never had that problem when shooting, and I have fat fingers, might be you’re gripping too tight?

Hmm, I dunno, I thought it was an issue during times when the weight of the rifle is resting mostly on that finger. i.e., not when I'm supporting the barrel with my left hand. After a while of one-handed stuff, it ends up hurting my right hand. I'm not sure why it wouldn't affect you though. Perhaps you're just stronger lol

Like you I havd pretty big fingers. Several options on the AR platform for extended trigger guard. Most are considered a tactical upgrading to fit hands with gloves.

Unless I am restricted by Competition regulations, I use a different grip. I really like the Sierra Precision grips that Brownell's sells.

I never use aftermarket Winter trigger guard that some places sell. The stock GI trigger guard has a spring loaded attachment pin for a reason. You just swing it down, out of the way for gloved hand use. I know a target shooter that leaves his loose and puts his trigger finger on the very bottom trip of the trigger. The added leverage makes a 4-1/2 lb trigger feel like a target trigger for his offhand event.
