Now let's address this "controversy" that keeps popping up and whack that mole about DeSantis and Ukraine where he clarified his position in a Piers Morgan interview about his comment that it was merely a "territorial dispute" which some critics took his comment to mean that Russia is entitled to that territory over Ukraine. He never said that.

In addressing that "mischaracterization" as he put it by those critics, he agreed that Putin was wrong for invading Ukraine and he said the idea that he thinks somehow Russia was justified [in invading] is nonsense. He never "walked back" this in that interview though about what he said about it not being of vitally important national interest. The following quotes. from the same Piers Morgan interview, I submit is an indication of that that.
That pretty much represents my opinion of it. Russia had no right to invade Ukraine. Russia is in the wrong there. But, it's not US's responsibility to police such territorial disputes and we are not morally compelled to intervene. So calling it a territorial dispute does not mean I think Russia is in the right.

    * My interpretation added

IMO DeSantis has correctly said and still believes that there are more pressing vitally important national interests right now than the Russian/Ukraine war. What he hasn't "walked back" are these comments he made in response to Tucker Carlson's Ukraine Twitter questionnaire in March of 2023.

Again, I think this is correct. And also I would add, the US should oppose giving Ukraine NATO membership. I still like the policy of making Ukraine a "buffer" nation between NATO countries and Russia.

Apparently some Trumpers are starting in with the dirt. Couple of examples of some fake doctoring here.

Could just as easily be the left doing that. Although this one is a little funny so that might tend to lean away from the left doing it.

Highly doubt they both originated from the left.

"Some Twitter users pointed out that Alex Bruesewitz, a pro-Trump social media personality, appears to have first posted and subsequently deleted the altered version of the image."

"A watermark below the MSNBC logo indicates the clip comes from a pro-Donald Trump meme account called "Ramble Rants,"

Well. I guess if you want to fight, whoever is the best liar wins. So who’s the best liar. Trump or DeSantis?

I would believe the first one more, the Alex post. When you are altering things, any watermarks are meaningless.

It’s what fiercely loyal supporters do though, right? Anything to win, right? Lie. Cheat. Whatever it takes. A fighter. DeSantis better inspire some more fiercely loyal supporters on his side to compete.

Ooh. I know. DeSantis supporters could spread some story that Trump ****ed a porn star while his wife was pregnant. Wait. That was real, and everyone already knows about it. Come to think about it, there is no lie bad enough. They could AI a video of Trump giving Soros head. They’d brag about his technique.

It is too bad politics is such a totally negative thing. All they do is throw crap at the other guy, doesn't even matter if it is true any more. You barely hear any of them bragging about anything good that they want credit for not doing.
I think the last time there was a completely positive campaign was when Lar beat Og for head Mooba of the entire Paleolithic Prefecture.

I suppose some here would excuse it and say all's fair in a street fight. You better learn to fight dirty. Except they wouldn't hesitate to cry FOUL! if it was done to their choice.

“Well, first, we need an honest reckoning about what happened during COVID,” remarked Governor DeSantis. “And the only honest reckoning is that all of those [health] agencies, all of the elites, the public health establishment, they failed. They instituted bad policies,” he expressed.

“Obviously, it’s a novel virus. But I think what happened was when the data was becoming more and more apparent that the path they were on was wrong, they doubled down and wanted to do it even more. And I really believe had Florida not just kind of stood in the way, I think this country would have had rolling lockdowns for probably a two-year period,” the Florida Governor attested.

“And so, their impulses were authoritarian. They were not following the data. And I think the U.S. government needs to acknowledge the failures. And I think all of those [health] agencies need to be cleaned out,” asserted Governor DeSantis.

“What I saw, just dealing with them, was I saw an interest in the narrative and in politics over evidence-based reasoning and evidence-based medicine. And so, I don’t have confidence that those agencies are up to the task. And I think you need major, major overhaul of the whole enchilada with respect to public health in this country.”

An honest reckoning? You mean “I saved millions of lives,” isn’t honest? :dunno:

Well, I hope not. That was kinda the point. Trumpers say a negative for DeSantis is that he’s unproven on the national stage. We don’t know what he’ll do. Well. That can work both ways.
What about the fact that he folds easier than a camp chair? That was a moment on the national stage and it wasn't pretty
