The borrower is an 18 year old kid who is doing what those in positions of authority above them recommended they do. If those in positions in authority recommended trade schools then the IKORCC (carpenters union) wouldn’t be begging for people take jobs that pay the equivalent of a 45-50 dollar an hour non union job after 4 years.

And yet you are, **** I will too for that matter because the comparable kid who gets out of high school at 18 and gets in a trade union will be looking at buying there dream home at age 25 but someone who went to school can’t afford the same at 30 how can anyone say that college isn’t a poor life decision……

Sure you will argue that some majors pay more than others. Of course they do but i would wager that if we tracked a cohort of 18 year olds who go to Purdue for engineering this year vs a cohort that gets in the union ( carpenters, electricians, lineman ect) that that kid in the union job will have greater lifetime earnings well into their 40’s.

Let’s work out the rough math

Purdue is 20k a year, say you spend another 12k to actually live. That leaves those on the college track with 128k in debt in same time that a tradesman has made 200-300k.

Purdue engineer gets a job at the utility company as an electrical engineer. Starting salary w/no ot is 78k. Same guy who went to line school is pulling in 100k a year only working mandatory OT. One who wants the OT is making 150-180.

How in the world can anyone say that college alone is a good proposition? And yet that’s what adults are telling these kids and have been for the last 20 years.
Let the government nullify the debt, but do not use tax dollars to pay the lenders. Let the lenders eat the loss. This should be as acceptable as taking money from my pocket to pay the lenders.

Sure, but unfortunately government programs never seem to solve the problem so that the kids eventually reach a point that they don't go hungry. They just perpetuate the situation forever and keep those kids stuck in a cycle of poverty.
Ok. I don’t disagree but that doesn’t change my position either. I’ll take a well intentioned program perverted by bureaucrats than a this piece of **** plan any day of the week.

The democrats are stealing from the less fortunate and giving to the relatively wealthy. How very liberal and progressive of the party that represents the little guy. If republicans did this **** half of this country would have ****ing melted down but since they prefer to ignore the reality of their “leaders” priorities and still choose to believe the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schummer and Biden give a flying **** about anyone who isn’t shoving money in their pockets it’s ok with them and since it’s going to benefit a significant number of Republican voters we won’t hear much opposition from them either.

Good luck with that. The lenders are reaping 500 billion out of this, how much do you think is going right back into the democrat party? Hint…more than half and that’s a guarantee.

    In the country, hopefully.

Best idea I've heard yet. That's how it works in business bankruptcy I believe. The creditors take a haircut.
Bend those colleges over hard and give them a haircut.

Seems like all kinds of folks will be splitting the benefit of another $500 billion in tax dollars pissed away for personal favor.

I wonder what it feels like to not be one of the many getting ****ed six ways from Sunday.

Anyone want to place bets on the enemies of the country paying off Chinese student debt next? You know, out of caring and compassion like this magnificent glimpse at humanity’s empathy.
