Patient today has symptoms for three days. Wants a COVID test. Young, healthy. Test takes a few days to come back.

If feeling better, can end isolation at day 5 now. Why test that person?

If you in charge of COVID return policies at your work, please think about this stuff and stop requiring a test.

Saw a patient today in the ER because a low cost clinic wanted a negative test after a positive three weeks ago before they'd see them.

So rack up about a $1500 bill for a useless test so the low cost clinic can see you. The system is dumb.
Someone I know tested positive a few weeks back. Her work required another test. That came back positive. They told her the following Monday would be the end of the quarantine and she could come back to work then. They said to try to get another test before then just to be safe. If positive, come back Monday and if negative come back Monday. Why waste time/money on the test in that scenario?

None of this idiotic s*** makes sense.

Far to many people that just run around screaming "you have to do something"!!!

When the real answer is, shut up sit down and consider what has transpired and develop a plan. You know, like Observe Orient...

    Ughhh, we are just lost.

Here's a thought, the Federal government and nearly all the worlds bureaucracies were wrong more than they were right. If you Orient to that reality, the decide part should be pretty easy. We need WAY LESS GOVERNMENT than we have now.

My son wound up going to the ER to get tested because his employer requires a covid test when employees have symptoms. He called around and the testing sites either didn’t have tests or were booked solid. The university couldn’t get him in for a test until Thursday and that was the best he could find. So he called the ER and they said he could get tested there right away.

He tested positive. He can’t go back to work until 5 days after his positive test and no symptoms for 24 hours. He doesn’t get paid if he doesn’t work so if he waited until Thursday to get tested, the best he could do is miss work until Thursday.

I don’t really blame the employers so much. They feel like they have to cover their asses. I don’t think they really care other than that. It’s guidelines coming from the government.

At this point with Omicron we’re not getting consistent testing anyway with the availability being what it is. And everyone is pretty much gonna get exposed to it. It seems pointless to try to maintain the kinds of policies we had with Delta. They need to move to policies that acknowledge the inevitability of Omicron.

Saw a news piece on youtube about shutting down Spotify because of Joe Rogan. Joe is putting out very harmful false news about covid and its killing people and he must be stopped. Interviewed 2 podcast radio people and they also went after Joes "misinformation" and how harmful he is.....then asked what is it that is so harmful, what misinformation.......they both said..."well he has debates about it.".......????.......really, thats all you got...?????.....Joe has misinformation thats killing people and needs shut down and all you got is, "he has debates about it on his show." And to think 50% of the population most likely thinks and believes this as truth, that debating and talking about something is spreading misinformation, but we can't give a example of the misinformation from the debate. Yup, shut down the 1st A.

    Anyone watch the miniseries Chernobyl?
In the first episode, the "Party" tries to control "misinformation".
    Except, it wasn't misinformation.

And people thought, THAT CAN'T HAPPEN HERE.

He didn't need a test. Waiting five days from positive test is stupid, base it on symptoms. He may test positive for another two weeks with no symptoms. It should be assumed he had COVID, return at day five if fever free 24 hours and overall feeling better. That is CDC guidance. A test result doesn't change when you can come back unless you want to believe a negative test.

What I am seeing is patients show up to ER because they have been out sick with symptoms and employers demand a test to prove absence is legit. Employers are jacking up the healthcare system and forcing employees to spend a ton of money. Trump tried to get indemnity for employers and Dems blocked it.

Thing is, he doesn’t have to test to come back to work. They made him test because he had symptoms. They don’t seem to have a problem believing employees. They self report the results.

We didn’t think their policy made sense either. The University’s policy is about as nutty. Because he tested positive they’re not letting him back to class for two weeks, but only if he’s asymptomatic. He doesn’t have to test to get back in as long as he’s asymptomatic.

The requirement chain may be backwars there. I’m pretty sure Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer signed deals with the devil. And I don’t even believe in the devil.
The devil didn't have to work that hard. People are easily convinced to commit evil acts, particularly if they believe it's for the public good. If they can enrich themselves in the process, all the better.

I doubt there's any formal deal in place with Nancy and Chuck. It likely took little more than a gentle suggestion.

You can now order 4 free at-home tests at COVIDTests.gov All you need is name and address - email address is optional - and the tests come to your mailbox.
I don't know if a second or third person can order 4 more from the same address or not - that didn't apply to me.

However the results from these tests are not good for anything other than your own curiosity - it seems nobody will believe any home test for anything "official".

I just posted on my union site (FB), when they posted about those, that their accuracies have been estimated between 80 percent and 50 percent.

Waiting for the hateful replies, even though I told them to look up the data themselves and not to take my word.
