Thats my point it makes no sense other than to make it look like its yours.

And those "2nds" and 3rds ad bumps.....come on kids. Stop it, Please.
Yep. Ive had people do it the right way. "If its still available, I'm in." And I effortlessly tell them what place they are in line. (I dont respond if its beyond the 3rd person unless its a terse "sale pending" canned message.

I really love the ads marked SPS in big red letters and people post in the thread...."Is this still available"

If its a new guy and it often is I give him his Mulligan .....a link to the rules and a smile. If an older member........Nope.

Speaking of related annoyances, on the Facebooks, when somebody inquires about needing work done, etc. and somebody says "I'm interested. DM me". Hey dip:poop:, why dont YOU get off your virtual butt and DM THEM!? If you were really that interested, you would take the 20 seconds to send them a DM and connect. The "phone" works both ways, as they used to say.
    /threadjack
That's my brother, but with the phone since I'm not on the FB.
Him on a Text : you home?
    Me: yes
    Him: call me
Me: don't tell me what to do.

    I simply don't understand.

Were you a site supporter at one time? I mean, I’m reading that you have 35 posts in 11 years! Why are you in the classifieds?
Yes i was, way back when. It was so long ago I don't remember if the supporter was for a year or longer or maybe it just slipped by. It was longer ago than most of the moderators have been here so I doubt anyone knows why the system kept me in. As soon as Bigtanker informed me about the problem, I remedied the situation immediately. As for not posting much in 10 years, sometimes I've been active and sometimes life has just kept me busy. But either way, while I read a lot, I find it better not to say much, because the reactions tend to be like with this post. Instead of it being thought provoking and getting others take on the subject, I am just analyzed, criticized, and after 10 years, questioned on my number of posts and and asked why I'm even in the classifieds...I'm here because I want to be here. If it costs me a few bucks, I'm glad to pay it as soon as I'm informed it is owed. I enjoy being with mostly like minded people, seeing what is selling, and for how much. I appreceate all the time and efforts put in by those in charge, but a few of the responses to this post have just made my case. But most have been positive and helpful.

I just posted three ads for guns in the last couple of days.

I try to be very clear about the items I'm selling and the terms I will sell them under. I don't want to waste my time or a potential buyers time by being vague. If it comes off as terse or rude that's not my intention.

I hate when folks post "PM sent" and then PM a low ball offer. I feel that they are trying to give the impression that the item is sold (or a deal is in the works) so they can drive the price down.

I sell items that I find no longer useful to me or to fund something else that I want more than the stuff I'm selling. I'm not a business, just a person fairly new to gun ownership navigating my way through this interesting world and meeting some interesting people.

If you don't like the tone or wording of a classified post just move on.

My experience with the folks I have met through the classifieds has been positive.

I am late to the show but I was rather amused by your ad copy.

It’s absurd to not read and follow simple rules when participating. You only highlighted that absurdity.

If it shows someone that their behaviors are inconsistent with the rules and saves the mods some time, you have performed a valuable service to ingo.

This is the best advice I've heard of for any of us on the internet. Not pointed at anyone in particular, just general advice. Don't be a whiny liberal and get butthurt when you read something that hurts your feewings. Put on your big boy (or big girl) pants and carry on. When I first got here I read a few posts, or responses to my posts, that I took the wrong way, but I just ignored those posts and have always really enjoyed being on this forum. Plus, I've never had any issues like the old forum days on tech forums where we used to go to war over the differences between video cards or CPU's. This forum is tame by comparison... :):

Like anything else in life, ignore the stuff you don't like and stick around for the stuff you do like.

Flakes are bad um-kay. And people that just do not read and comprehend what you write and then ask you insane questions can get on one's last nerve.

    Oh Puleeeeese do that.........:lmfao:
    Ahem.
I would like to call for a point of order...isn’t there a rule about not being allowed to mention that you have an ad and especially provide a link, in the general forums?
I’m sure marvin02 has received huge advantage by mentioning his ad here, and should be flogged with a wet noodle or something.

I felt like replying to one add that insulting everyone reading his ad is one good way to not sell his item, but why bother? I like going deeper into the adds as if it has been posted a while, they may deal more.
Wait for the seller to learn that they may need to change something up. A lot of folks do that, a lot of folks will only do that.

I have made a few trades with folks that observed my add not get marked as sold for a few days, then made an offer.

Whether or not the OP belongs in the classifieds, he has a good point. I have seen some ads that were so surly that there is no way I would buy no matter how badly I wanted it. It's one thing to remind people to respond by PM; it's another thing to demand in shoutycaps that they not lowball, not bump the ad, not reply if they are not local, etc. etc. etc.

I always chuckle at the sellers who are pushy. :hehe:

"I don't need to sell this."

"Last bump, then it goes back in the safe,"

    "Lowballers will be ignored!"
