Don't eat the black pudding. Trust me.
Hell has been described as a place where the cops are German, the politicians are French and the cooks are British.
In my days of involvement is the open wheel racing many of the people involved were Brits. They came with the cars basically.
Most were seriously cool people with boundless skill sets. Always a treat to work with.

Some were water dodgers with foul temperaments.

Being invited to eat with them on a few occasions always turned sour. We learned to say no. They loved our grilling and sides but man the foods they ate were just terrible.

Love Costco's Irish Cream!!!! right around $20-22 for a 1.75L. That's like almost 2 bottles of Baileys....for half the price!!!!!
    :coffee:
St. Brendan's is a great Irish Cream and usually cheaper than Bailey's also.

My head hurts...I musta passed out!

I was home for 2 weeks in 2019, and I had forgotten just how bland the food was. I have certain family members who think that black pepper is just too spicy.

My exes dad was an engineer for an Indy car team. They came here from Dorsett, England I think he said. Awesome guy, but yea, their food was horrible. I think a lot of times he knew I wouldn’t like the food because he’d make me try a bite and laugh when I struggled to swallow it.

They did like their alcohol tho, you’d have to be drunk to eat some of that junk

Lived in Suffolk for three years. Food was either bland, odd or yuck.
They had an Empire that spanned the globe, with access to untold spices and flavors, and incorporated none of it into their cooking.

What was the worst thing you remember eating there?

Haggis in Scotland. Mushy peas or fried eels in Suffolk. Refused to eat black pudding. Also refused pork & beans on toast.

I haven't had haggis, but I'd try it at least once. My wife tried mushy peas with fish and chips, now she loves them. I've had eel in sushi, and it wasn't bad.

Beans on toast is delicious, almost as good as beans over sausage rolls.

As to how we see shooters now.

You cant. I had CKW log on (spouse) and we looked at a couple I have been forced to punt off the playground and there is no line through the user name like I see.
I have to fix this. Public humiliation was always part of getting ejected.
Are we bringing back the stocks, and pelting them with lutefisk?

    +1

It's detrimental to this threads survival if we don't get some new blood in here once in a while.

I guess eel is more popular in England and Germany where you'd find them in the rivers.

Haggis? Why not? I like the line from So I Married an Axe Murderer, "I think Scottish cuisine is all based on a dare."

Mushy peas? Sounds gross, so I'll try it.
And British style beans are just really lame Boston baked beans.

We can all agree that Scotch Eggs are the best, amirite?

I got to enjoy the Haggis at a Burns Dinner held at Fiddler's Hearth in South Bend many years ago. It was pretty good I thought.
