Nope, you’re right. Anyone who destroys public or private property should pay.
I just think the punishment should be the same across the board.
And I was just pointing out the hypocrisy.
Looks like they’re trying to dig up everything possible to charge these guys with, which would be fine if if they were doing the same the last few years.
Breaking into the Capitol Building, interrupting proceedings, making people hunker down, availing oneself of the opportunity to sit in Pelosi's desk. That's pretty severe. It's not the same type of harm done as what the riots did. But that does not diminish the severity of it. The shame of it is that I don't think most of those people thought what they did would put them in prison. And I don't think most of them deserve it. Some clearly do. Some clearly knew what they were doing. And I suppose that's true of the commie rioters too.

Yes, but I don't think the Guard troops moving in are all from DC meaning they would come from other states if the term moving in means what I think it means. Could be wrong.
Hell, governors of other states tried to send their troops. Now that's some serious left wing virtue-signaling.

Not to mention Virginia sending in 400 state troopers to “secure the area”

if Holcomb were to suddenly disappear from public view and Illinois sent over a couple hundred state troopers to quell a conservative protest how would you take it?

Maybe ya know open an investigation into voter fraud :dunno: Or keep escalating and see how it ends. My guess is if 4,000 people show up again armed it’s going to end badly.

National guard showed up unarmed without time to zero their rifles. They won’t be able to hit anything.....

National Guard troops are under the states not the president unless he nationalizes the Guard right? IF that is right then governors could send them at the request of the DC people, but I dont' think a federal authorization is necessary. If Trump declared an emergency in DC until after the inauguration that would justify moving in Guard troops. Are there also regular army or something moving in?
The DC national guard is under the president's command.
To get the DC guard deployed the DC mayor needs to request it to the Secretary of Defense.

Some governors wanted to send their own National Guard troops to DC during the attack but they need to be authorized by the Secretary of Defense to do so, since they are not deploying within their state.

Before the riot the Pentagon offered to deploy the DC National Guard to the Capitol but the USCP declined the offer at least twice.

Then during the riot USCP and DC gov asked for the DC Nation Guard to be deployed.
It took a while to be approved since POTUS wouldn't approve it.
Finally Mike Pence contacted the Pentagon to go down the chain of command and get it authorized by the Secretary of Defense.

For the presidential inauguration national guard troops are coming from several states.

What good does bringing in the guard do when they are unarmed? Even if they issue the weapons they will most likely get an empty mag or it will be Barney style where they get three rounds to keep in their pocket.

no officer is gonna trust a random 18 year old kid with unvetted loyalties anywhere near dc with a loaded gun. If you think differently then you obviously haven’t been in the guard in the last decade......

Good luck with that. You're clear on DC's gun laws right? So unless these guys are all going to be CC'ing pistols, 4000 of them won't get anywhere near the capitol building with long guns. But if they are that dumb, then I hope they brought their lunch. DC, on election day, is probably going to be one of the most militarized cities on the planet.

The day of the attack they wanted the guard for crowd control, so only armed with non-lethal stuff.

On the 20th (and the days prior) they will be deployed with lethal force.

There will be between 5,000 and 15,000 national guard troops deployed.

capital police being suspended for allowing protesters to take selfies with them.

How long until the LEO crowd finally figures out that our rulers view them as disposable pawns?

Ya know, when people are actively breaching the building you're supposed to be guarding... taking selfies, in my humble opinion, isn't all that good a look.

In all fairness, I can only presume the photographs were before, or far away from the chaos.

Ignoring the pawn comment, it's bad form to punish officers for doing what they've been told to do - act like humans that care, rather than soulless enforcers.

From the pictures I have seen, a big part of the crowd were allowed in, stayed within the velvet ropes, acted respectful. So I can see some of the officers that were not in the area where the conflict was occurring thinking it was another day of tourists visiting.

More propaganda efforts from an authoritarian state.

Police and the general public getting together, conversing, and enjoying each other's company? Can't have that, it doesn't serve the Us vs Them agenda. Therefor they'll get rid of those officers and replace them with officers that will help serve the agenda.

Not to mention the fact that it will destroy any support from allies. You go to DC armed you better be right about why you're there.

I don’t support the idea. I wanted to point out how dangerous this escalation is to human life in general. The guard most likely won’t be armed and if they are I doubt they are fully kitted up. Those “patriots” showing up might get into the capital again but the day will not end without loss of life.

a loss that could be prevented by pacifying the election fraud crowd with a investigation and a full report for the public. For our politicians to just say “NO” like a 2 year old is insane.

Oh, absolutely. 40% of Americans don't trust the election system. 1/3 think that the election was stolen from Trump. Regardless of whether or not those opinions are rooted in fact, that's an astonishing number. It is not good for democracy when that many people distrust the system. And so far the senior citizen president elect isn't talking about fixing that. He's talking **** about imaginary coups.

Apparently they already arrested a few people who among other things broke DC's gun laws.

A 70-year-old resident of Falkville, Alabama, who allegedly parked a pickup truck two blocks from the Capitol containing eleven homemade incendiary devices (described as "Mason jars filled with homemade napalm" in court filings),[195] an M4 assault rifle, and a handgun.[473]

Another arrested rioter from Georgia allegedly brought a compact Tavor X95 assault rifle, two handguns, a "vial of injectable testosterone", and about 100 rounds of armor-piercing ammunition. He allegedly texted acquaintances that he was "gonna run that c**t Pelosi over while she chews on her gums" or "[put] a bullet in her noggin on [l]ive TV", adding that he "predict that within 12 days, many in our country will die" and later texting a photo of himself in blackface.

You really know you screwed up when the blackface thing is the less shocking thing in the list. :n00b:
