Apologies for not getting back with everyone. Been wanting to sit down and update but it's been nutty.
Our little man is doing better than he was expected to. This is largely due not only to the awesome NICU folks, but my trooper of a wife. He's still got a feeding tube, but she is there to pump milk for him at every 3 hour meal internal. She wants him to have the best nutrition, make sure he doesn't have any feeding difficulties when we take him home, and can't get enough of holding and rocking him. She reminds me constantly why I love her,and I'm glad we're a team. She'll be discharged in a day or two, but I'm fairly sure they'll have to throw her out if they expect her to leave.
That's about it. I slept some last night and remembered that it's pretty great. I also talked to the billing specialist and wanted to return immediately to bed for a few months. Luckily due to my Italian heritage I have my own "billing specialist" named Vinnie who specializes in "debt reduction" and "liberal use of air quotes."
So yeah, things are great. Thanks again to everyone for the support and stories. I've actually felt more prepared and confident throughout, and that can't hurt.
I know the hospital my daughter was born at had a policy if a newborn is in the nicu, the moth can stay for free in a room if they’re providing milk and get food also. A friend did that for the four weeks her daughter was in the nicu. Hopefully that is how that works for you.

Still in our thoughts and Prayers my friend.
Thanks for the update.
And.. no need to apologize. I'm pretty sure most of us know you're kinda busy right now.
I'd offer to stop by, now that I'm home.
But I'm not cleared to drive by the docs yet.
I thought that statement was going to end with "but I'm not allowed within 100 yards of a hospital."
What did you do to yourself? I would think you're only in the 2nd or 3rd week of hanging Christmas lights, and that's a little too early for any hilarious accidents.
An ulcer cut into a vein. I drained enough that even my ex-marine brother was concerned.

Wow. Glad you're still amongst the living. That sounds like a pretty acute situation.
