Yes the number would be higher than zero, yes there is a moderate chance some of them would slip through the US screening process for new immigrants.

Ok, cool. So how many isis terrorists is an acceptable number? Is it like the number of rat hairs in tuna fish?

Just to be clear on constitutional matters: this is mere public positioning. States have no choice in this matter, I'm told.

While things such as immigration and taking in refugees may be exclusively in federal jurisdiction, having them land anywhere other than a federal facility most certainly involves state acquiescence at some level. In the case of Indiana, as the article says:

The Refugee Resettlement Office in the Division of Family Resources in the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) administers the Syrian resettlement program.
No one to administer the program and settle the refugees, no settlement of refugees. The feds do not have agencies up and ready to do this. If you want to talk federal funds being used to leverage the states into acting, I'm sure it could happen, but it takes time.

I hope that's the case. Either way, it's a good position for pence and other governors to take.

I received a quick response from the Gov. office today. He is directing all state agencies to suspend the resettlement of any additional Syrian refugees until certain assurances from the Fed. Gov't that security measures are in place.

This article is now listing the number of states not accepting refugees as nine. Massachusetts is now one of them.

Wow. Even the Boston Marathon Bombing notwithstanding, I admit I am surprised by that. It's harder, I suppose, for Obama to ridicule this as Right Wing paranoia when lefty states join in as well.

Hope you folks like your afterlife on the warm side.

Are you on the side that says the Feds should ignore their enumerated powers in the Constitution and bring in un-vetted people?

Samaritan's Purse is a good charity, so is the Nazarene Fund (the one I donated to) to donate your own money to help these folks out. Or you could jump on a plane and go over there and help them yourself.
