i apologize in advance for how "douchey" this will make me sound.

i lived in new york all my life, until last summer. because of that, i have a high standard for my pizza. now, i dont expect to have something that tastes exactly the same, given the difference in water from here to there - but the closer i can get, the better.

that being said, who has the best pizza around here? i have tried "new york style" pizza from vermont to florida to washington and thats all it is - the same style. what about the flavor!?

I don't even know if I've ever had New York style pizza. If I lived in Noblesville I'd go to Pizza King all the time. It's probably completely different than what you're used to but it's pretty good. It's what I grew up on and it's my favorite. Unfortunately there isn't a good Pizza King on the south side of Indy.

If you're used to real NYC pizza, you'll be hard-pressed to find anything in Indiana to compare. That said, there's a place in Carmel called Greek Tony's on 116th and Rangeline. The pizza is good, the breadsticks are fantastic.

I used to love pizza from a place in Jersey. We'd stop after soccer games and chow down. Then the owner was arrested for cocaine trafficking. If that is similar to NY pizza you may have to head to Chicago.

doesn't Brozinni claim to be NY style pizza? Too greasy and soft for me personally.

I too am from the east coast. Lived in jersey/ new york up until 2yrs ago and I will tell you flat out there is no where like home to get pizza here. Closest you will find is brozzini on Emerson and county line. Another thing Indy lacks is good bagels I guess the saying is true it must be the water

another problem is - you can copy NYC pizza easily. make it greasy and floppy and soggy.

OR you could copy the superior upper-scal long island pizza, which uses quality ingredients and doenst have half a cup of "drippings" :D

ill have to try the suggestions in here

Depends on what kind of pizza you like, really. If you are an "Sal & Carmine's" slice type, it just isn't offered here. Closest would be the pizza buffet at Shadeland Station on the Northeast side; but it is "Original Ray's" caliber, at best. But there is much better pizza to be found than typical NY slice shops if you are a fan of Napoli style. Both Pizzology up north of town and Napolese around Broadripple offer quite good examples of Napoli style pizza, although I wish Pizzology used Napolese's sauce, or vice versa. I've had pizza at Motorino, Di Fara, Montanara, Grimaldi's and Totonno's (along with innumerable slice shops) and these guy's can play in at least the same ballpark. Unfortunately, NOBODY here in the States can seem to replicate the 90 sec misshapen lunch pizzas that you can get on almost every corner in Naples; I've been looking for 20+ years...:(

The local favorite seems to be Bazbeuax's; but it really isn't my type of pizza.

As far as some here are concerned, Papa Johns has "good" pizza. As far as pizza, it's like sex, when it's good, it's real good, when it's bad, it's still pretty good. That said, James at Brozzini's is a New Yawker, and puts out a pretty good slice, and Sal Russo at Sal's makes VERY good pies! Add that Sal is a big time gun guy and has pictures of himself shooting Beretta shotguns in his Plainfield store, all the more reason to giv him business.

if you go to brozzinis before 3pm you can buy it by the slice so it gives you the chance to try a few different ones. My favorites from there are the white slice and the bbq chicken slice

Never been to New York but Greek's on 116th just west of I69 is our favorite. The owners are gun owners and great guys.
