My wife and I are in Castleton currently and we both really like Hungry Howie's. They're pretty cheap too! Nothing like New York style pizza, but the best delivery style pizza I've had in a while. Greeks Pizza is really good too, but they're a little more pricey.

Lived on Lawn Guyland for 10 years, got transferred to Indy 16 years ago with some other Noo Yawkez. We settled on Giorgio's located downtown on 9th Street, then we liked Pizza Doughmain located at 8220 Brookville Road. Both are close. Pizzology has the crust close with the char and texture but it is more a artisan pizza joint, so toppings are more gourmet. Of course nothing will be a real New York pizza. I was told it has to do with the water which is harder in Indiana than in New York which changes the texture of the dough.

The local favorite seems to be Bazbeuax's; but it really isn't my type of pizza.

I like this place okay. The problem is people are used to pizza tasting like Dominos, Papa Johns, Pizza Hut. Then when they eat at a Chicago Uno they think they are getting great pizza. Most of the chains and delivery parlors make thick crusts, lots of cheese and tomato sauce. All of the lowest cost ingredients of the pie.

A good slice of pizza should allow your taste buds to taste each individual ingredient as you bite into it. You should taste the toppings and the rest should be a flavor adder and a carrier for the toppings, not the main attraction.

lowest cost? Cheese is the highest food cost item on the pizza, including meat ingredients?

Bazbeaux Pizza in Broad Ripple is really good. As for NY style, you aren't going to find much in these parts, especially being so close to Chicago. It's either Pizza, or Chicago style in these parts.

If you're used to real NYC pizza, you'll be hard-pressed to find anything in Indiana to compare. That said, there's a place in Carmel called Greek Tony's on 116th and Rangeline. The pizza is good, the breadsticks are fantastic.

Greek Tony's :drool::drool: .... Love the place and the breadsticks. I really like the "Spicy Sal" pizza, with giardiniera peppers on it.

There is supposed to be a "New York style" pizza place going in on the NE corner of 126th St. and State Rd. 37 in Fishers. It is in the little strip mall behind the Shell station, oddly enough a couple of doors down from the Big Apple bagel place.

I've never been and am not sure it is open yet, but it may be worth checking out if only to see if they are the real deal or not.

Hadn't heard of it, but i surely will give it a try. I give EVERY new pizza joint a try. And Sahm's (or the folks backing Sahm's) have opened a new pizza place at 116th and Allisonville road which, to my shame, I have not been able to get over to try.

Amore in Zionsville is really, really good. I've only had real NY pizza a couple times in my life, but I like Amore's. They advertise as New York style pizza, and the guys that run the place add some authenticity.
