Why do folks unholster their handgun to use the john? Seriously. Why?

I have NEVER removed my firearm to take a dump. I just don't understand the need. At all.

Do folks take out their wallet? Keys? Knife? Flashlight? Completely disrobe?

The morons among gun owners can not help themselves. They have not developed a true sense of respect for the firearm. To many of them it is a new toy and so cool they have to show it off and fondle it at every opportunity.

Leave the damn thing alone unless it is needed.
    It is not a toy.
It is not a new piece of bling.
Leave it in the holster until you need it or you are putting it away safely.........................."Safely"

We as gun owners can be our own worst enemy's.

OK guys, explain to me why this happens.

These people are new to guns. The gun fascinates them.

As such they must confirm its existence and look for any opportunity to play with the gun.

This manifests itself in a gun culture Ganser Syndrome wherein they purposefully do the wrong things as an opportunity to play with the gun.

Be willing to bet it was striker fired....

i like the line, "The round went right through the holster"..... kinda chuckled at that one. holsters are meant to carry guns not stop rounds!

On INGO we still have people arguing that cradling their gat in the taint of their jockeys while pinching off a loaf is acceptable practice. These types of incidents aren't going away any time soon.

I'll confess....with a reason why. When I first started carrying, when I was 21, Ioved holding guns. When I had to plop a squat in public, I needed something to do. At home I had magazines or little hand held games to occupy my time on the throne. I'd take my gun out and just look at it. BUT, I think that due to my $10 Uncle Mikes floppy holster and cheap belt, the gun had to be removed as it would fall out if I didn't take it out.

Now with good gear, it stays in the holster on my belt.

I lock mine in a drawer at work, along with spare mags and badge. It's easier to get everything back where it belongs without the weight. I've also watched my badge holder slip off and plop in the toilet and would rather not go fishing.

There are high ride holsters that will flip upside down when not held in place by the belt against the body, as well.

My coworkers are wondering why I'm laughing.

To be honest, I use the word "taint" quite often in my legal writing. "Pinching off a loaf", less so. Not never, but less.

I thought taint was a double contraction of "it ain't"...least it was down south: e.g. "'tain't gonna rain today, Jimbo."

    What'd I miss?

I just returned from a major dook-out session the likes of which haven't been seen since the superbowel half time show.

The waistband of my pants never descended below my knees and gat was secure even throughout the anxious struggle and five flushes.
