Just watched 4 "security guards" escort out a guy that was open carrying. He was calm and complied with them and left the mall. From what I saw he was a respectable gun owner not causing any trouble. Does anyone know if Simon Malls has a no firearm or open carry policy? If that's the case it's the last time me and my concealed firearm will patronize their malls. If it was an INGO member please let us know what happened.

    Merry Christmas

I think their rules say something like no weapons of any kind. I would never open carry in the mall. You're just asking to get thrown out.

Yes all Simon Malls has a "no weapons" policy which covers firearms.

This includes the Fashion Mall, Castleton, Circle Center and others.

I've never seen it CLEARLY posted at any of their malls. It's always on the "code of conduct" sign along with a million other rules, and you usually have to seek those out to find them. The OC'er could easily have not known. I think saying that he was asking for an encounter is definitely a stretch.

At ours up here, the sign is about 8 1/2 x 11 and the writing is about what you see on your screen. The entire page is filled with all of the rules. There is one line towards the bottom that says no firearms/weapons.

The one time I was at the Fashion Mall, I didn't see any signs at all by the doors I went in. And I was looking pretty hard. I walked passed a couple security guys and a couple cops(I'm pretty sure one of the cops noticed my gun) and nobody said anything to me. Just lucky I guess.

University Park Mall is the one place I make sure my EDC is fully covered. Of course the only reason I go their is because Barnes and Nobles moved their.

I OC'd at Greenwood mall for years. I was once approached by mall security and just asked to cover up. I was there helping family set up a booth during the holidays. He was nice about it.

Other than that, never had an issue. I imagine other malls would be a bit harsher.

I still OC often at the restaurants attached to Greenwood mall. Not sure they care as much.

They were just jealous that they couldnt have one. The most Simon will give them is a Walkie Talkie. On second thought some get Segways so they dont have to RUN away from a threat. They can ride away quickly.

I bet those FOUR mall ninjas felt big and bad escorting that respectable gentleman out. Seriously. One, maybe two is all you need to do the job. I think it would have been fun to play with them a little. "Sure, I'll gladly leave. Im parked at the west end by the theater." *gets to the door* " Where is my car? Oh, wait, no, I parked at the EAST end. Silly me. I guess we get to parade back through the mall again so I can leave.":):

It was kinda fun OCing at circle center last spring during the convention. Lots of OC'd guns and nobody escorted out. I did see quite a few sourpussed ninjas that were not at all agreeable. One gave me a crappy look when I bid him a good afternoon as I walked past him to the food court with my 1911 on my hip. Didnt even have the professional courtesy to respond in kind to my pleasantries. It was obvious they werent happy they were told to stand down for the event.

Where ever my GPS says I am
At the local mall in town (owned by CBL), I don't believe it is on the doors but on a sheet of paper where you will miss it (I was actually looking for it). It actually said no weapons of any kinds except when in performance of job duties (I took this as even off duty cops might be asked to leave).
