They were just jealous that they couldnt have one. The most Simon will give them is a Walkie Talkie. On second thought some get Segways so they dont have to RUN away from a threat. They can ride away quickly.

I bet those FOUR mall ninjas felt big and bad escorting that respectable gentleman out. Seriously. One, maybe two is all you need to do the job. I think it would have been fun to play with them a little. "Sure, I'll gladly leave. Im parked at the west end by the theater." *gets to the door* " Where is my car? Oh, wait, no, I parked at the EAST end. Silly me. I guess we get to parade back through the mall again so I can leave.":):

It was kinda fun OCing at circle center last spring during the convention. Lots of OC'd guns and nobody escorted out. I did see quite a few sourpussed ninjas that were not at all agreeable. One gave me a crappy look when I bid him a good afternoon as I walked past him to the food court with my 1911 on my hip. Didnt even have the professional courtesy to respond in kind to my pleasantries. It was obvious they werent happy they were told to stand down for the event.

I'm unsure why you appear to have an issue with mall security. I doubt they were trying to be big and bad, but rather trying to stay employed by doing the respectable job they were tasked to do.

I was at the fashion mall today cc'ing without issue. Didn't see any signage about weapons, but I wasn't exactly looking either. I would agree that the fashion mall is probably the least lenient of the malls in the area to try and oc at.

My my issue is primarily with thier employers policies. I just don't see why it took that many to escort him out considering he was described as going willingly. I could see all 4 continuing if the OCer was being beligerant and making a scene. I am sure two of them could be productive elsewhere.

And as I type,I guess I DO have a problem with UNARMED security. You want to disarm me while I am in your establishment? OK. Then I expect the same level of protection that I personally employ otherwise. But if you are going to tell me I cant arm myself, then tell me my guardian is some official witness in uniform with a radio? Please. I am of the mindset that if you are going to remove our right to self protection, you should be required as the property owner to replace that with equal protection.

If Simon used off duty police or employed special deputies, I wouldn't have such a problem with their policies; at least they would be making a good faith effort to protect us. Instead they employ babysitters. Nothing more.

Simon properties IMO have no responsibility to provided safety, unless the public is required to go there. If you're concerned about safety, don't go, carry concealed (since their signage does not qualify as a denial of entry).

As another INGOer once stated for movie theaters, there's always the option of cc on the way in and while doing business, then oc on the way out.

Point taken. And thats why I CC when I HAVE To go. I typically dont go to malls as the merchandise is overpriced and well... people.

But to extend your point for the sake of argument; should we also neuter the fire marshal as well? I'm not required to enter, so why push the fire codes? Why should they be forced to keep aisles clear, occupancy limits, emergency exits marked, and alarm panels tested annually? I am not required to go there, so why protect me from fire hazards? /rhetorical

I've never seen it CLEARLY posted at any of their malls. It's always on the "code of conduct" sign along with a million other rules, and you usually have to seek those out to find them. The OC'er could easily have not known. I think saying that he was asking for an encounter is definitely a stretch.
This is true, at least in my experience. They have so many No Smoking signs on the door you can barely see through them. Would it kill them to put up a sign about weapons too?

I don't go to the mall unless it is the only place to find something or other and I need it before Amazon can lail me one. :)

I did not know Simon malls were not gun friendly, I've OC'd about a dozen times the last couple months and I had no issues. Oops

Why does it take four Paul Blarts to escort a guy out of the mall? If they were concerned there would be "trouble," 1) why didn't they call the real police, and 2) what good would three more unarmed guys do?
