This world is an ugly place. Everyone has ugliness of some sort in them. Sometimes people turn inside out and horrific things like this happen.

Of course, when faced with such an axiomatic truth as that, instead of acknowledging that in the moment it is most obvious, many people make leaps of logic, such as blaming inanimate objects. Maybe being irrational is a coping mechanism.

I walk a mile a day, and I always carry when walking.
Living in a rural area, you never know what you'll run into.

When somebody goes on a murderous rampage, lack of a gun will not stop them. A $5 Harbor Freight machete could have done as much damage. Defending with a gun is the quickest way to end the rampage.
