    My empire of dirt
My friend was gifted a Winchester model 1873 rifle from his Father. It's a .44 caliber marked New Haven Repeating Arms serial number 359052B. Can anyone give me a rough about price on this rifle, and is it a Winchester or an Uberti? It is not in the best of condition externally, but it does have a nice clean bore. I would say maybe a C grade. Any help would be appreciated. He's going to hand it down to his son, so he's not looking for a selling price, he would just like to know what he has. Thanks.

What he has is an icon of Americana.
The Winchester '73 was the quintessential deer/game rifle for more than a century.
The last thing I would be worried about would be the value, unless you're talking about insurance for it.
    That gun wouldn't go anywhere.

The Winchester 1873 is a good solid rifle and 44-40 was the preferred caliber although there were others. The toggle link action isn't the strongest so stick with mild loads. Post up some pics!
