Never got into cans. Don't like the idea of paying for permission to be "allowed" to own them.
Have you shot a suppressed gun?

    Honest question.

We touched on this in the other thread about PCC’s. Which one would you prefer to shoot in your house.

Two rifles, both suppressed. One is in a pistol caliber and is hearing safe, the other in 5.56 is much longer. With the short can, it’s still not hearing safe, and still shoots flames out. Without a can, the 10.3 5.56 is a flame thrower. A full sized can will tame it down, but then we are back to full size rifle.

I have not. I do want to dabble though...but needing the stamps just rubs me the wrong way. Then I need to buy subsonic rounds. I would probably put one on my CZ Scorpion for the most benefit. I suppose I just found a reason for a PCC!

So let’s just clarify here….. I know people are very serious about hearing pro and firearms which I am ok with. BUT at the same time…. They hold firearms to a MUCH higher standard….

What I am saying is although the gun isn’t labeled “hearing safe” it is shootable without ears…

before you jump down my throat here me out… do you wear hearing protection when mowing the lawn? Maybe you do good for you… how about running the blender??? At every race track? Concerts? Chainsaws? Leaf blowers weed whackers air compressors vacuuming etc etc you get the point.

trust me I wear hearing protection. I hate ringing ears but there are calibers and combinations they say “aren’t hearing safe” that are actually easier on your ears by a long shot than the things I just listed.

    *** disclaimer not a hearing specialist ***

While I will not argue or debate with anyone the +'s or
-'s of suppressors, I can only relate my experience.
This is my "short range" home defense gun.
300blk, 8.5" barrel, with a Silencerco Omega suppressor, shooting Hornady 190gr Sub-X loaded to 1025 fps.
It is whisper quiet with the only "noise" is the bolt cycling.
The bottom is 4 shots at 25 yds.

The tipping point for me was the exposure of a single unsuppressed shot from a 9mm without hearing protection. Aside from my EDC, every single pew-pew I own is either suppressed or will be in due time.
