I'm looking into getting my first 1911 in 9mm. I love the 1911 platform, but I'm also open to the 2011. I'm differently looking at a government size.

Right now I'm looking the most at the Kimber Rapide Dawn.

Budget, I would like to be around $2,500 max.

What kind of opinions do you all have?

What do you want to do with it?
Last year I picked up a RIA 1911 in 9mm/.22TCM
Came with two barrels and uses the same magazine.
Probably won't be competition grade, but it's great for my purposes.
Forgot to add, it's a double stack mag.
I think it holds 17 rounds

I want to be able to CC with it, but want a nice trigger and finish as well.

I've been VERY happy with my 9mm Dan Wesson. Less so with my .45 Kimber as it took almost 1500 rounds before it wore in to be reliable.

Several years ago, I bought a Springfield Range Officer 1911 in 9mm. It was not perfect at first, it turned out to be the early design magazines. Springfield shipped me replacement magazines, and it has been perfect since. Very good shooter. All function, no bling.

Bought a Springfield Garrison 9mm between Christmas and New Years. Very happy with it, decent trigger, nothing fancy but it is a single stack.
Not a single hiccup in about 200 rnds so far.
$800 including tax so about $1600 left for punching holes, spare mags and a good holster.

Yeah my wife’s 9mm Kimber was a PITA. Kimber told me it needed broken in. No bueno! After I replaced the main spring and recoil spring with proper parts all is good. Not a big deal but a bit annoying.

OP buy the Dan Wesson. Don’t overlook a commander sized gun. The 4” barrel in 9mm handles nice.

I could never bring myself to spend 2K on a 1911 9mm, BUT if I did this would be my choice.. Looks like you can still get into this one cheaper than $2500... Keep in mind sales tax on 2K is $140 but if you could get this for under your limit I think it would be an exceptional deal.

I've been looking at the Wilson Combat SFT9. It's about $3,200, but sure is nice!!
