well, if anybody has noticed I am having website issues.
Unknown to me when I hire a person to redesign and host my website back in 2004 he transferred my domain name into his ownership. :xmad: I was pretty naive to how that all worked and would not have known until my website went south and the host dropped off the face of the earth.

Finally after some effort and frustration I have gotten ownership of my domain name back and hopefully will have my website up again soon.

    rant off

as you found out, it's a good rule to keep your domains with a different company than you use for webhosting or designs.

if you keep current backups of your website, changing webhosts is easy.

if a web design company needs access to the website, *temporary* access can be given, then their access can be removed.

who are you using for your new webhost? did you have a backup of the design and content?

Yea, I learned that one the hard way.

I will soon be hosting on Newtek Technology services. ( Hopefully today)

fortunatly I found an individual that helped me recover my domain name
( I don't know why this is typing in bold and it wont turn off)

so he is taking care of setting up the hosting for me, I have a program on my website that allows customers to login in and view a picture and brief update of their car in repairs daily.
Apparently that is a bit more to setup than a normal webpage because it is requires an SQL? database. Not sure about the SQL part :) and it is large

Two IT people have told me this now.

Anyway the person working on it now has done alot of work configuring my in house network and exchange server and has been doing a good job for me, so I have quite a bit of confidence he is handling this well also.
