Yup, our "guys and gals" should be firing back at the Jane Pauleys of the world....

"Jane, it's time for you and the news media to own up to your part in creating these monsters. Would you pledge here, today, now to supporting the 'No Notoriety' campaign to save lives?"

    https://nonotoriety.com/

ETA: "Do you pledge to be RESPONSIBLE JOURNALISTS in exercising your First Amendment rights? To avoid the documented 'contagion effect'?"
    Wouldn't that be nice.

Instead it is about pushing agendas and getting views.

Until they open up nics for everyone without a mandate to use it with zero fees involved I view all proposed solutions as attempts to curtail rights……
I kinda like that we cant use it. Its one more reason we cant do a universal background check, which helps stave off universal registration. Just like I like that most cars dont have built in GPS (generally). That prevents by the mile road taxes.

But Im sure if there is a FFL lobby, they will fight against it so their members dont lose out on the avalanche of cash they'll get from more transfer fees.

Stop creating a stage for the deraigned. Also stop categorizing ARs as "assault weapons" They should not even mention the type of firearm that was used IMO.

They are becoming the weapon of choice for the deraigned. It's like an advertisement to go out and purchase one. If this is not true, then why wouldn't they just purchase a handgun? An "assault weapon" appeals to them because the media keeps bringing it to their attention.

in their warped minds they see it as something they need. That's the first thing they go to now when purchasing a firearm to commit an evil vile act.

Dem rep porter accused a witness of perjury, a crime, and then they refused to let the witness speak. Democrats make a mockery of our government and continue to abuse their power to push their own agendas……

Right there in McConoughey's quote he recognized that the 2nd Amendment is being abused and hijacked by some deranged individuals. So should the answer be that we as responsible gun owners should have to pay the price and let them gut our rights?

They think being a responsible gun owner means that we should be willing to compromise our rights and stand aside.

Absolutely NOT. Figure out another way. Do all that you can stopping short of infringing on our rights as responsible gun owners.
In a scaled society that recognizes natural rights, responsibility is required. It’s better to preserve a free society by nurturing the required responsibility than to forsake the importance of responsibility and live without those rights.

I don't know the zoning laws in Texas or anywhere for that matter, but I can't imagine a school is considered public property the same way a park or some other publicly designated space would be.
Remember "public property" does NOT mean it belongs to "the public" it means it belongs to "the government". Just sayin.

McConaughey's ideas on nurturing required responsibility. It is the responsibility of gun owners to restore "responsible gun ownership" in the short term to preserve our rights. Things like:

    Universal background checks
Raising the age to 21 to purchase an "assault weapon"
Red flag laws should be the law of the land
    National waiting period
    Safe storage

He started out on the right track in the article about things like addressing mental health issues, school safety, the prevalence of sensationalized media coverage and the decaying state of American values which he says are all long-term issues that need to be addressed but there isn't time to do it now so in the interim. we need to focus on "restoring responsible gun ownership" Suggesting that we are not being responsible gun owners if we do not make compromises on a few "reasonable" measures in the short term while addressing the aforementioned long-term issues.

Addressing "long-term issues" are what the Republicans have been wanting to focus on for a long time. They want to address core issues.

The problem is Democrats never want to address those issues and subsequently societal issues get worse and worse leading to more violence.

Instead, they opt to blame everything on the guns without addressing the core issues. IMO neglecting those issues for so long is not the responsible thing to do and has led us down the path to where we are today.

Responsibility is an individual thing. You restore responsible gun ownership individually. Each gun owner needs to take responsibility for his or her own actions. He’s asserting a group responsibility which doesn’t actually exist. I am not responsible for the actions of others when I have no part in the actions they take.

He's basically saying that we as collective responsible gun owners should take responsibility for preventing deranged individuals from abusing and highjacking our rights.

In other words "hey all you responsible gun owners, deranged individuals are abusing and hijacking your rights. What are you gonna do about it?"

Matthew McConaughey has had different views just a few years ago.
Get rid of all "assault weapons"
    Get rid of "high capacity".
And limit to 3 shells per gun, because that's all you need to hunt.

I saw it mentioned that juvenile records could be reported to NICS if they had felonies. Not sure about what else they meant.
In this brave new world I am all for all records of crime/etc stay with the individual all the way down the path. No lock juvenile :bs:
