I was just returning home (Avon) from taking my youngest daughter to her voice lesson, at a house in the development just east of that distribution center, on the north side of 100S, when this happened. Passed a fire truck going east as we were headed west. I didn't notice any smoke, so it must have been just as the conflagration broke out.

Nigel of Nigel and Hammer said some of the pics resemble explosions in Ukraine.

    They are reporting on it...

View from Morgan county ~1425. The pics don't really do it justice. It was a very ominous sight. I hadn't heard the news before I saw the smoke. I worried it might have been a plane crash based on my direction of travel and its proximity to the airport. I hope nobody is hurt. KIMG0441.jpg KIMG0442.jpg

That looks bad, really bad. Glad to hear everyone is accounted for.
It looked worse to the naked eye than the pics suggest. Pic from HWY 42 between Mooresville and Monrovia. Not sure how many miles it would be as the crow flies. I can imagine a warehouse for Walmart would contain a lot of things that would complicate containment efforts. Oil, solvents, tires, etc.

Reports on the ground from my people advising they can see the plume as far away as Whiteland and Greencastle

    On the public safety side:

All fire personnel in Hendricks County have been called in, Marion County fire stations are being deployed for mutual aid, Marion County Fire Buffs (rehab support volunteers) have been fully activated and are grabbing support apparatuses to rehab firefighters with food, water and air bottle refills (last I heard at approx 1400 hours, all air bottles from the Hendricks County personnel were completely depleted).

I’m on standby for Marion County EMA and our EOC has been activated in support.

I was at Costco gas station nearby, it was raining ashes on me.

I was hearing a lot of fire vehicles going by my house earlier (near Thompson and 135) and wondered if they were heading out there.
