I read but I can not link, that at the turn of the last century, The "Progressive party" was tied to the Soviet communist party. Therefore the word progressive was dropped in favor of liberal, which is now viewed as a bad word so they have begun using progressive without thr former stigma.

Manure by any other name still stinks.

I would argue that the whackadoodles aren't the problem. They are simply the numerical mass. It is the truly evil individuals who are steering these idiots who are the true problem. The whackadoodles are enables, as are the Fudds.

Wackadoodles and Fudds aren't just citizens. They're elected office holders as well.

Fudds don't generally vote for the whackadoodle candidates who want whackadoodle laws. They vote for Fudds, who tend to be the Republican establishment candidates, who in turn pay homage to the gun culture because they're afraid of being primary'd. Mitch McConnell comes to mind. Simply put, no whackadoodle office holders, no whackadoodle laws.

So the realistic fear is that the Fudd congress critters and elected Fudd executives might become emboldened to go along with [STRIKE]common sense[/STRIKE] whackadoodle laws if they ever perceive a weakening in the gun community's resolve.

But until such point, I think we do indeed have much more to fear from whackadoodles than from Fudds.

I'm confused...all this code language. Should I be hearing dog whistles or anything?

    Maybe definitions are in order:

Whackadoodle: A crazy progressively left person who wants to progress the world into a socialist utopia. They tend to regard feelings as a form of factual information.

Fudd: A "gun owner" who just wants to protect their right to hunt, but does not see the 2A much beyond that. They tend to be "establishment" conservatives.

Oh ok. So my tinnitus is just acting up again.... whew!

But I thought John McCain defined whackadoodles as folks like Cruz and Paul that are more constitutional minded. (Or maybe that was whackobirds?)

As in Elmer Fudd? I guess not to be confused with FUD - Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt - the thing that drives Pmags to $100 each.

John McCain is a senile old ****. Not that there's anything wrong with being old. I'm just describing McCain's state of mind for judging his opinion about things. In the context of this thread, I went with the implied definition of the way the term was introduced.

Pretty much it's named after Elmer Fudd. I do think that Fudds are often motivated by FUD, so there's that.

    Where's the bacon?
No one wants to take you guns... but we should look at what Australia did, and here is a law that will ban every common semi automatic weapon in existence

The Founding Fathers only meant you could have muskets. All firearms should have biometric locks

The slippery slope doesn't exist.... but the bullet buttons, magazine limits, list of approved handguns, and "assault weapon" features laws didn't work so we're going to roll out even more "common sense gun control laws"

Prohibition doesn't work, end the War on Drugs. All guns should be outlawed.

Asking for ID to vote violates a Constitutional right and disenfranchises minorities. Gun owners should be finger printed, monitored, have mental health evaluations, pay for licenses, pay for training, and be subject to raids by police at any time.

Gun owners are violent psychopaths just looking for an excuse to kill. We should SWAT them/attack them on sight/send in the troops.

No one needs a weapon that the military uses. Of course people can own shotguns and bolt action rifles.

Neither the time nor the crayons...sometimes it just plain sucks to be out of rep!

This site needs a "LIKE" button...'nough said!!!

    Ditto.

Now this would be a great t-shirt!

For all interested, I have repped OakRiver the maximum points I had. Others should do so ASAP. That's a great image, and I am stealing it, reducing it's size, and saving it to photobucket for later use.

    That is all.

    Blessings,
    Bill

Bill Lamb from WDRB just repeated the title of this thread in his "opinion". He's a ****ing idiot. He also repeated the theme that the new executive actions close the gun show loophole and require background checks for everyone.
