I would say that dc derives most of it's power from the money that it hands out. States these days seem to take bended knee for that cash, our own governor being an example. There are times I think he would pave the state if the feds paid for it.
Everybody wants to be 'the big guy' in their own little puddle of corruption. None of them would likely become millionaires any other way, even if they understood hard work and sacrifice

Getting rich in politics seems easy, and you get more of what you subsidize

It’s in Manhattan. You don’t have to prove anything for guilt. You’re going to have 12 liberal Trump hating jurors and a Trump hating Judge. They must stop him for the good of the country. They had no proof on anything else in the past and never stopped them.
The guy who said "a grand jury would 'indict a ham sandwich,' if that's what you wanted." was Sol Wachtler, and he was the chief judge of NY State when he said it

Guy on FOX said this is all screwed up. A state or city can’t bring a federal charge… yet there this goon is doing it because he has all liberal government backing him.
If it's a state or municipal prosecutor I don't think they would have the jurisdiction to bring charges for violating the campaign finance act.

This analysis runs counter to my own, namely the author believes it left’s enmity is directed at the man, not the message. But it does show just how uphill the 2024 election will be for the republican…

“Use this presidential election interactive map and do your own math if you wish. It takes 270 electoral votes to win, and Trump or any Republican starts off here with a 125-209 disadvantage with the supposed ‘in-play’ states being Maine (3), Nebraska (1), New Hampshire (4), Pennsylvania (19), Ohio (17), Michigan (15), Wisconsin (10), Minnesota (10), Iowa (6), Nevada (6), Arizona (11), Texas (40), Florida (30), Georgia (16), and North Carolina (16).”

“Of those ‘in-play’ states, Trump or really any GOP candidate could reasonably expect to pick up Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, and Iowa. That’s 109 electoral votes added to the original 125, for a total of 234. Even if you’re not a math wizard, you know that’s not nearly enough. Where are those 36 remaining electoral votes going to come from?”

“On the other side, it’s pretty safe to conclude that Democrats will add Minnesota (10), New Hampshire (4), the remaining portions of Maine (3) and Nebraska (1), and yes, Michigan (15) and Pennsylvania (19) to their total, bringing them up to 261. I know Trump supporters will howl that Michigan and Pennsylvania are in play, but I can assure you that electoral shifts over the past several years sparked by demographic changes as well as Trump’s own antics have rendered those states solid Democratic electoral strongholds. If you don’t believe me, I’ll simply refer you to Exhibit A: re-elected Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and Exhibit B: newly-minted Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman.”

To be painfully honest, in my opinion that analysis holds for ANY republican candidate, not just Trump. It seems the cake is pretty much baked, and the thickness of the frosting is the only question.

There’s more democrats in the life boat than republicans. If the capt is a Republican out he goes. If the only doctor is a Republican out he he goes. If the guy that can navigate is a Republican out he goes. All you got left to try and survive is a democrat comedian, a democrat spokesperson to carry on. Fun fact back in 8th grade are humanist teacher put us in a life boat. We were to come up with careers that would keep us in the boat. My career was a Marine, trained in survival skills, hunting and finding water, medic qualified…..I was not picked by a single person! I lost out to an architect because he would be able to build buildings. The teacher was furious and said I should have been the first one picked! Makes sense now looking back at it. Birds if a feather flock together even if it’s to their own destruction.

I think you’re right in part. TPTB, to the extent that they’ve painted Trump incorrectly as WN sympathizing, racist, sexist, Russian operative, traitor, and literally Hitler, know that they’ve made that **** up. They’ve worked hard to build this machine to extract resources from ordinary people. And we’d like to presume that Trump stands in their way. For those people, you are correct. It’s about, not necessarily the message, but the consequences a Trump presidency would have on the machine.

But. To the rank and file voters the meaning has stuck in a way it might not stick to a different candidate, whose antics don’t confirm their narrative. To them the name of Trump is poison. And while I’m not dismissing the idea that they could be successful doing the same to another candidate.

The fact remains that they did it to Trump. It’s done. There’s no getting the deluded back. The author is correct that Michigan and Pennsylvania are lost causes. And it’s primarily, I think, because Trump helped confirm the narr.

PN voted for a brain dead Democrat over the guy Trump picked. It’s easy to get the minions to vote against the guy they’ve been conditioned to hate. Maybe they can condition people to hate any Republican that much. But. They tried to get people to hate DeSantis, albeit in the limited scope of a state. But he won in a landslide despite the negative ads painting him the same as they did Trump.

Point is, it remains to be seen whether they can convince people not to vote for Desantis. They, with Trump’s help, have already turned the public against Trump.

It’s not all message. It’s at least a little bit the man.

No they didn't. They did the usual strawman ****. But more people ****ing hate Trump in a way I've never seen before. The vitriol is astonishing. Trump hate is at 11. Romney and McCain are like a 2 or 3 compared to that. Trump is poison to half the country. Some of that was self inflicted by what you guys like about him, but most people don't.

Not a neutral comparison as the other two did not win.

“We are not involved in this, won’t be involved in this,” DeSantis said. “I have no interest in getting involved in some type of manufactured circus by some Soros DA. He’s trying to do a political spectacle. He’s trying to virtue signal for his base.”

And he got his jab in on Trump for Trumps low jab at him a couple weeks ago. Desantis added that if Trump hadn’t paid hush $ to a porn star he wouldn’t be having this problem now.
