There are a lot of fun things to do in Indiana. If you like state parks, Turkey run over in western Indiana is a great park to visit. Indianapolis has the State Museum, the Indy 500 museum and track. French Lick has a casino and resort along with a railroad museum. I'm sure it you look around, there will be plenty to see and do within an hour or so from New Castle. I live more central so I can't really help with what's there nearby. Best of luck!

Thank you! I found a couple of things today on my first adventure to Indy but I was hoping for something a little bit closer. I like parks, fishing, martial arts, etc etc. I like shooting, but my Husband insists we go together to shoot which means we don't get much opportunity with 3 kids XD

In May, the 500. April-October, motorcycle riding if you are into that. Camping. Deer hunting. Fishing all over the state. If you want to do it, you can probably find someplace to do it.

cool. I also saw some stuff online about the big blue being a good river for prospecting? Seems like it would be fun to try panning for stuff every once in a while. I love stones and have some mine rough coming in. I'm going to try polishing some corundum with a diamond file. Might turn out, might not. Not quite ready to invest a few hundred bucks on lapidary equipment just to goof off.

When it starts to warm up, try Holiday world in So. In., great park for the whole family, free soft drinks and sun screen. Huge water park and theme park all at 1 price.

For outdoor stuff check out the Indiana DNR website. Links to all state parks and calendars of activities a lot of which are family oriented. When the weather warms up they'll be a lot of festivals and fairs especially in the smaller communities.

In New Castle, the fun thing to do is to get drunk, head to the railroad tracks at night, and place a 2Million candle-power spotlight on the top rung of a stepladder on the tracks facing oncoming trains. Then hoot and hollar with your buddies as you monitor the railroad's radio channel.

    Uh, this actually happened, btw.

Definitely a multi day canoe trip down Sugar Creek. However don't trust the weatherman, many times has a 20% chance of showers turned into terrible thunderstorms in the middle of the night.
Though those are the trips you never forget.
Also there are some strange characters along that river so, as my dad always says, you should really probably be armed.
