Actually, I believe I remember Peterson supporting the overturning of Roe so that the question could be returned to the states where it belongs. Once there, I would support the outlawing of murder because you can't have liberty without life.

[/COLOR]Running for Senate is a statewide race, and Johnson is obviously popular there. It actually seems like it has real potential and could give libertarians a boost. The larger problem is that if he runs probably both of the other parties will pour money into the race to prevent a third party from a win like that.

Agreed. The statewide race, and indeed the better idea I was referring to, was Johnson thinking to run for the senate. What I don't think is a good idea is trying to run a 50 state presidential race. Its a waste of resources and political capital

Several successful Libertarian candidates for the senate can have a larger and more immediate effect on the political debate than a whole string of defeats in presidential races

We have enough "bake the cake" politicians in power already.

Ah I may be wrong about Peterson then. He just always sounded pretty much like a Republican to me. I think he's actually a Republican again this month, BTW.

Yes, he's running for the GOP nomination for one of Missouri's senate seats.

But he's not the first to be a switch hitter.

If you're running to finally get your party 5% of the vote, you run as a 3rd party candidate. If you're running to win the office, you run in whichever one of the two pigeon holes you fall into.
