it's on the coast, you're not getting $800
I'm sure somewhere on the coast you could find a place with rent for $800. It might mean having multiple roommates. It might mean living in a converted apartment above someone's garage, but there are always cheaper options. If not, move to a different state.

These people expect someone will just hand them the ideal situation and aren't willing to make sacrifices to get ahead. Boo Hoo.

that's the problem. They don't want roommates. They don't want to cut other expenses.

I own my home. And I had a friend and his wife live in my house for years to help me out.

Dang it. I went through liking a bunch of comments that were poking holes in the argument, and now Facebook thinks I want to look at more posts from that site.

    Wahhhh!

And for almost 4 decades, I've worked in electronics, and people keep calling me an electrician.
    Wahhhhh!
    Woah is me.
    Weeping and gnashing of teeth.

I'd be curious as to why this person can't qualify for a mortgage.

The math assumes they spent an average of $1,333 a month in rent over that time. If they had lived somewhere where the rent was say, $800 a month, they could have saved up a down payment of $64,000 over that 10 years.

And sorry sport, but owning a home is not a basic human right.
That or he has poor judgement skills when it comes to choosing a community to live in…
