I have an acquaintance who is a long term upper management person who works for a large corporation. His management group has been rotating running third shift labor positions, as they cannot find workers.

It seems as though our gov't paying people not to work is becoming more and more of an issue.

To get people to work you have to pay them more than not working pays. That means paying a dishwasher, stock boy, warehouse runner $30,000+/yr.

Wage inflation is baked into the cards, which i what I think the leftists goal is. Forget $15/hr min wage. That will be unnecessary because you won't be able to hire anyone for less than $20/hr.

add in higher taxes on businesses (and people) and that then means much higher prices for everything.

And of course inflation hurts the middle class more than anyone else. the poor are poor either way. The rich get richer and the middle class gets destroyed. I think that's the point. Bolsheviks hate the middle class. They are the enemy of Communism.

Surely you jest. Aren't the Democrats in control? Didn't they have a better plan than the last guy on virtually every single issue? I thought the Democrats were for the little man? How could the rich get richer when the country is dominated by democrat policy?

    Pretty much Michigan.
We could just do away unemployment. People might be more motivated to find work if they cant live off the gooberment. Theres plenty of jobs for everyone.

This is what sending free money to people completely unaffected by the pandemic and just based on income level alone (rather than targeting relief to those who are actually impacted), along with increasing unemployment benefits beyond what it pays to work results in.

All the people who worked those crappy service jobs went and found better jobs during the shutdown. Everyone was like “ if you don’t like your crappy minimum wage service job then go do something else, this is America”

now people are like “hey get back here and take my order, you weren’t supposed to actually get a better job.”

It also doesn’t help that only around 1/3 of the country’s population actually works. The rest are disabled, retired or in school.

The Dems love the rich and pander to the poor.

It is the middle class that they despise. The millions of people trying to get ahead the right way, build businesses, get their kids through school, raise a family don't need layers of government, don't need a nanny state and stand there as stark reminders to the poor who hope one day to be the middle class.

That's competition for the Totalitarians in trying to get the poor to vote for whomever gives them the biggest stimmy check. When the stimmy check goes away, the middle class may well be standing there trying to hire the poor again. Think the millions of latin Americans who come here to work. And they work their butts off, save money, raise families and start businesses themselves. Those are threats to the power of government.

So government recruits a new generation of Latin immigrants who are recruited to come here by leftist NGOs, told how to gain entry, told what to say and told that the government will make their lives better than the sh!thole they currently live in in Tegucigalpa, Quetzaltenango or Zacatecoluca.

End of the day, businesses have to actually earn the money they pay their employees, and will never be able to compete with the federal government printing themselves free money to pay people to sit at home and not work. This is basic economics. Businesses do not get to print their own money. They cannot be made to pay wages as though they are able to print their own money.

Yet the lazy, brain dead socialists of this country continue to act as though every restaurant owner has mountains and mountains of profit hidden in a cave somewhere that they refuse to share with workers because they're such a greedy Scrooge. Reality is what little they had saved was all burned last year trying to keep their staff employed while the government was making it illegal to open your restaurant.

    Um....no.

Statistics do not bear this out. In 2019, about 10.1 million people were receiving unemployment payments. Now, the number is almost doubled at 18 to 20 million.

If what you said were anywhere close to true, then all these people you claim went out an got better jobs would not be getting unemployment as they would, y'know, be employed. Simplistically, there would not be an increased in unemployment claims.

The nearly doubled number of those receiving unemployment is, in significant proportion, those who are remaining voluntarily unemployed.

An aside- Working a crappy service job is honorable. Remaining intentionally unemployed on the public dole is not. Those who worked crappy service jobs at lower wages make more suckling on the teet...which makes them the largest group remaining voluntarily unemployed...and no more honorable despite the bottom line.

Do you have any data or evidence to back up this assessment that all these service workers found new jobs?

I’ll admit my evidence is stories I’ve heard from people in person and on the internet. Anecdotal at best but how else do you explain a “shortage” of people willing to work aweful schedules, for low pay ( 7.25 an hour is only 280 a week, 12.50 is only 440) and be treated horribly? Perhaps the gov dole is driving up market rate just a bit but the service industry also has competition for their workers like never before.

if you have a car you can make 80 bucks in a couple hours doing insta cart and or door dash.

you can apply at FedEx and sort boxes for 19.50 an hour

you can apply to literally any construction company and get a job at 15 an hour.

you can get paid to go to truck driving school and be making 70k or more in 6 months

those jobs you either set your own schedule or you work a pretty steady schedule, those jobs even include benefits.

now put yourself in the shoes of a 18-25 year old who used to work a fast food establishment. What motivation could you possibly have to pass up those jobs I listed that have benefits and actually make enough to afford rent? Only one I can come up with is a drug test......

im all ears if someone has a valid argument for taking a job making less money, working less than full time and with no Benefits. These jobs require no more skill than McDonald’s and arguably less than waiting a table.

I know of a factory here in town that offers 16/18 bucks an hour to start and they cant get anyone. Even hard to get people to interview and this is to run a forklift. So no it is not " people have found better jobs" argument is lets just say it.... Sh**.

We had to hire 1 new front desk for our office and we pay 17.00 with just good manners and being nice we will teach you the rest. You know how long that took to fill ? 3 freaking months.
