Ancel Keys (may he forever burn in hell) did more damage to more lives in the world than all but a handful of human beings. You are quite correct that a similar politicization of science, the media and government conspired to cause harm as what we have seen with "climate science". Unfortunately, the damage that Keys and his supporters did to our understanding of healthy human diets is only started being fixed 60+ years after the fact. It will likely be a 2+ decades before the "common knowledge" is corrected.

Unfortunately, overcoming the man-caused climate change jihadists will likely take a similar period before it is corrected.

Though somewhat dated (2016) I found this a very interesting read - https://getpocket.com/explore/item/the-sugar-conspiracy

It's not about climate, but about the dangers of sugar, the cult of the low fat diet, and the utter devastation caused by the "consensus" among scientists and the "conventional wisdom" it fed.

I imagine many in the general population reading this and nodding their heads in "knowing" agreement while being blind to the obvious parallels (ignoring history, cherry-picking data, destruction of heretics, attempts to quash hard data in conflict with their beliefs, and a love of power above truth) between the (not yet ended) chapter in human history here described and the farce that is climate alarmism.

In those days, I accepted the party line on nutrition information, naively assuming that legitimate research support the conclusions that fat, especially animal fat, was very bad for you and our diet should be mostly carbohydrates. It also helped unleash the beast of "healthy" plant-sourced unsaturated fats and their evil laboratory cousin, the hydrogenated fats that resulted in trans functional groups in excess of what we find in nature. There is still a lot of junk science getting in the way legit research results, but the evidence I've seen supports that animal fats are actually good for you, especially when compared to most plant fats and high glycemic index and glycemic load carbohydrates.

Here is a series of videos that a friend of mine shared with me (he's working as a mechanical engineer in industry, but with BS in physics and MS in nuclear engineering). The videos present information about the Earth's atmosphere and interactions in detailed manner. I only watched the last in the 61 part series, but the presenter's conclusions are consistent with actual measured temperatures and historic trends during the 20th century until now. I'm trying to minimize the effects of my own confirmation bias when I evaluate such videos and articles, but in this case I think it's some very good work. I intend to watch the entire series as I have time.

The playlist is titled: ASTRONOMY 9.1 EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE
    Creator: Michel van Biezen

That is a great article, on a topic I am passionate about, it deserves its own thread...

I just realized what I typed . . . I'd like to state for the record that my friend is not James Earl "Jimmy" Carter, although they share academic paths and both were nuke officers in the USN.

Well. Greta’s still full of ****. Except the particular brand of **** she’s full of is getting a bit more apparent. It seems her and AOC shop the same **** markets for the **** they like to fill up on.

[The action we’re demanding] must be powerful and wide-ranging. After all, the climate crisis is not just about the environment. It is a crisis of human rights, of justice, and of political will. Colonial, racist, and patriarchal systems of oppression have created and fueled it. We need to dismantle them all. Our political leaders can no longer shirk their responsibilities.

When asked by a progressive what I thought about greta’s speech at the UN, I said I thought she was unhinged. The person I said that to then became unhinged. I am quite impressed with this new superpower I’ve acquired.

Even if human activity is the cause of the warming, nothing will change. Fossil fuel will continue to be used coz Money.

Warming is real as glaciers continue to disappear in some parts of the world. Doesn't take a scientist to see that. And the continued deforestation isn't helping.

The thing is, glaciers recede and advance all the time. It's what they do. There are certainly places where the ice is decreasing, but there are also places where the ice is increasing and right now the net amount of ice appears to be increasing (you can check that, I could be wrong and I don't have a cite handy). The fact that atmospheric temperatures have been constant or perhaps dipped a little for the last 15-20 years suggests that were are not currently warming. We are definitely not warmer than in the 1930s and if CO2 had the dominant heating ability as claimed by alarmists, the temp increase would have to be inexorable as long as CO2 concentrations remained the same or increased. The data do not show that.

I think you should watch the playlist of Michel Biezen's videos about the atmosphere that I linked in my previous message. Each part is relatively brief and builds to some very basic conclusions that are supported by actual data and are based on scientifically sound and consistent analysis.

Actually, forest coverage is increasing as I've discussed before. Who would have thought? Trees like CO[SUB]2[/SUB]. The Earth is a system that automatically adjusts and adapts as things change over time.

I think one problem of perception, is that when scientists say “could” people infer “is”. When they say “potentially” people infer “will”. There’s another part to that. Some people are overly skeptical, and infer isn’t and won’t. Whatever may or may mot be true about anthropomorphic global warming, the thing I’m most confident in, is that the hair on fire full on panic mode inducing calls for authoritarian socialism to save humanity hysteria is utterly man made. The tell is that the sources of the hysteria can’t not connect it with Social Justice.

I see a point in the future where a logical step in the discussion is to merger the GW :runaway: thread with the insane social justice thread.

    I'm not worried.
Soon the aliens that planted us here for their food source will be back to harvest.
Besides, we only have less than 12 years left. Enjoy them while you can.
