Agreed. But in reality communists and fascists are much more closely related than most realize. The only real difference is the nationalisim component. Remember it was the National Socialist German Workers Party. And honestly the totalitarian tactics are pretty much identical.

i have always tried to be respectful of other folks opinions. but when they push their opinions on everyone to further "the cause" it is my reponsibility to counter with mine.

i was cancelled after voicing my opinion on a conference call. our new vp of "diversity & inclusion" (who had nothing whatsoever to do with the call) got online and was more than happy to let us know about his coming out.

i merely stated what everyone else was scared to say and now i'm no longer invited to meetings.

Well, in short it comes down to the way they have a "victim hierarchy" that very closely resembles a form of class warfare expressed specifically in Marxism.
The short version is LGBT rights is simply the vessel chosen to express it this time. No, former or current communist countries don't abide homosexuality. I can assure you, however, that the communist revolution in any country also didn't start out telling people they would live in fear of starvation and secret police finding they're stockpiling an extra few grains of rice without the party's knowledge. First they tell you what you want to hear and everyone will have butterflies and rainbows and 2 ponies. Then they gain power over all institutions and suppress everyone less than complimenting the party. I don't know who else calls things communist on here, but I don't do so flippantly or with less reverence than the accusation deserves. These same people align with antifa and call each other "comrades" all the time, much like the Labor party across the pond. I've been deeply involved in geopolitics for well over a decade now, check the flags for the communist fist. Take the time to deepen the knowledge of an enemy who would seek to subvert and destroy every institution you hold dear. In one aspect, you're very correct that this isn't simply communist/fascist etc. It's in a way a religious war for most of the left. I can take the time to explain if you want, but I have a baby and work 10 hours trucking most days. I'm not shying away from the subject, but I simply lack the time at present.
Also edit, I understand the frustration with people on the fringe of understanding calling everything communist. It irks me as well as evidenced by my rectally retentive distinction between nazi and communist.
