All the new gun owners since March really are an opportunity for shoring it up, but I don't know of what's being done on that front.

To expand on that, there's all sorts of historical and political arguments that can/should appeal to left leaning folks (at least economic leftists.)

Black Panthers, Marx was pro-workers-owning-guns, historical gun control targeting the poor (poaching laws in europe, NFA here), history of gun control being enacted to tacitly keep guns out of black peoples' hands, poor people needing self defense the most, womens' safety -- just to name a few.

In general though I think gun culture in the U.S has ceded all the above along party lines, so....
