My son has a Heritage Rough Rider 22lr. 6.5in, blued.
He wants to have it painted.
He wants the bright green like this.

So it would be kind of like this, just not that much green.

And then put this grip on it.

Has anyone had something like this done?
    How did it look?
    What did it cost?
I know Allen and USDS do the coating and would probably have one of them do it, if I let him.

This does not fit my conception of what that gun should look like. Therefore you are prohibited from painting it. (Just practicing to be a progressive for Halloween.)

If it's blued I would probably leave the cylinder that way or your new paint job will get a nice turn ring after the first round of shooting.

I think that it's great that he's taken an interest in it and wants to customize it to make it his own. I did the same thing with my AR when I was younger.

I would have him watch westerns for a couple of days and flip through the book "Sixguns" by Elmer Keith....After that I would then simply say, "Are you sure?" If he still answers "yes" I would then go ahead and do it for him...Whatever it takes to make the boy happy...

But then again I am old...:)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...and if he wants to do that, just make sure it's on something you never plan on, or hope to, sell!
