When I bought my house in the early 90's 7.5% was cheap. As rates declined I refied then paid it off. Back in the early 80's home loans were around 14% so consider the current rate cheap.

And agree, mortgage rates have been much higher, but savings accounts earned 5% plus, my 401k didn’t lose more money than I put in every month and gas wasn’t $4/gal.
