ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday issued an emergency public health order that suspends the open and permitted concealed carry of firearms in Albuquerque for 30 days in the midst of a spate of gun violence.

The Democratic governor said she is expecting legal challenges but felt compelled to act in response to gun deaths, including the fatal shooting of an 11-year-old boy outside a minor league baseball stadium this week.

The firearms suspension is tied to a threshold for violent crime rates that only the Albuquerque area currently meets. Police are exempt from the temporary ban on carrying firearms.
Lujan Grisham said the restrictions “are going to pose incredible challenges for me as a governor and as a state.”

So she made Albuquerque one big gun free zone!!! Because criminals obey laws and gun free signs. I've been there many times and was always a good time, but so was Seatle before all the riots.

This is exactly what we told people would be the consequence of supporting and complying with covid emergency orders. Now all the left's stupid BS obsessions will be enforced via arbitrary public health orders from on high.

When you give leftists power, they use it.

    One thing democrats know—law fare.

Act first. Then let the very slow wheels of justice undo what they did…if they ever do.
Agreed (politicians in general). There should be personal penalties for politicians that put in place executive orders, etc that blatantly are unconstitutional.

"The right of the citizens to keep, and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary power of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist, and triumph over them." Justice Joseph Story

    Is it time yet?

They take an oath of office to uphold the Constitution. Sadly their constituents very seldom hold them liable. I personally would like to see an all-expense paid trip to Guantanamo Bay for any politician that violates their oath of office. If we the people enact stiffer penalties than our government would be a lot less corrupt.

You have just hit the nail on the head: there are never consequences. Violating the Constitutional Rights of American Citizens? Penalties should be swift and severe.
