    Yes puffball. We slice them like bread and fry them in seasoned butter. Yum. We also slice them thinner and dry them for use in soups. Pretty much all puffballs are safe to eat except the ones with small spikes on the outside. But you have to get them while they are still white inside.

    The mushroom lady brought me a pretty good haul. She, as always, was adamant about me doing my research to make sure they are safe to consume.

    I'm studying up to make sure they are ringless honey mushrooms...
