Just picked both of these up tonight. Just tossing out a few pictures for others to drool over, or laugh at, either way.

The Mauser is all numbers matching and operational, with original leather holster. The 1889 used to be nickel coated, but was stored in a ceder chest for way too long so all the coating is gone, but is otherwise sound. Locks up great and seems to be operational. I'll more then likely pick up some ammo for the Mauser in the morning for a few test shots, but I doubt if I could find any for the S&W, my best guess is 38 Winchester, but without taking it to a shop I can't tell what its chambered for.

A couple of nice ones there! I'd say more likely 38S&W than 38 Win, but you've got the right idea to take it somewhere and find out. Again, nice score!:yesway:

The only things I could find online were about 38 Winchester, but the previous owner said he thought it may have been 38 Short, but had only fired it once. He also only knew of it being fired one other time.

Looking online I wasn't about to see anything about .38 Short, but did see it was offered in 38 Winchester at some point in time. The markings on the top of the barrel are obviously hard to read due to the condition its in.

Good score I used to have that same model Mauser many moons ago. They shoot great and are very accurate, mine was in mint condition. I unfortunately had to trade mine and a couple of other firearms for a house after I got divorced.

After doing some more research, turns out I'm missing half of the firing pin. I have the pin itself, but there is a rod that sits behind it with a spring guide. That explains why the spring was kinked around like it was.

Numrich has both halves, but they also want $43 for it. Hmm.. I wonder if I can find a blueprint for the part.. seems pretty simple.
Firing Pin, Late .25 & .32 Cal. (Outer Diameter .265; May Require Fitting)

The left part is the one thats missing.

I just did some more research on the revolver, and using a glass I was able to make out that it is actually an 1880, not an 1889. That really helped in finding out some more information about this gun! :)

These aren't my posts I'm linking to, but I belive these are both about the same gun I have sitting next to me. If anybody else can help me find out some more information on this I would appreciate it! Maybe even the value in case I ever decide to take this into a show. Thanks guys.
