My body my choice! Or does that only apply to pregnant women?

While that does make for a good meme, the problem with it is, you can't get pregnant by being too close to a pregnant woman. That being said, I tend to agree that it's mostly a feel good measure in all honesty. I still am wearing my mask when I go into stores, but I will sure be glad when it's no longer even an issue.

Um, actually, no. They are being asked to be a decent human being and keep their germs to themselves, since it is possible to transmit the disease for up to a week without knowing you have it. Shame that people have to be forced to do something that will prevent illness or death in others.

Enough with the pathetic shaming posts. Humans have always spewed germs about, it is part of being human. It has been posted ad nauseam that there are few doing it right and effectiveness is very questionable. If someone is fearful or high risk, they should engage in the best protocols they can, it is not their right to dictate to everyone else how they live. If they can force mask wear for this, why not colds or other flu types? When would mask wear end? Please exercise your right to wear that mask, keep your opinions off my face...

For those of you posting derisively about freedom, stop sipping the Kool-Ade long enough to look at facts.

This is not what they warned us of, no where near that bad. A power grab is on, whether you see it or not. California is trying to keep churches closed until fall, just when flu season starts, see where that is going. They are trying to make voting by mail so hundreds of thousands of poll workers no longer keep our votes legit. Fighting over spending trillions we do not have implementing their socialist dreams.

    Look at the evidence...

Seems to me that the logic used by some regarding the virtue of using a mask versus those that choose not to, the acceptance of policies (and even government edicts) being used to force compliance, etc. is much the same as what we hear/read from those supporting businesses’ decisions regarding the carrying of guns in their businesses. We’ve all read the articles and comments where anti-gunner, common sense moms will espouse how keeping your guns out of their stores is just a safety measure...after all, it doesn’t inconvenience you one bit to leave your gun in your car, if it saves just one life...your right to carry a gun does not trump my right to be safe from gun violence.

There is more truth here than way too many want to see. If it is not obvious by now then we have already lost the republic with no shots fired.

This entire like saddens me beyond my ability to describe.

If someone doesn't go to Menards because of this policy but goes back one they lift it, in my eyes, you're a hypocrite. Go or don't, that's your choice but don't grandstand about it and then go back.
Just go in the exit, and ignore their stupid policy. It’s really that easy.

You're right, enough of the shaming. I've done my fair share for freedom by not just sitting on my ass when I was called for duty. I stood up in a lot of **** holes for others to run their suck. Sheep? Anybody try to hurt my family and find out. The one thing this whole "Event" has taught me, at least, is the real character of some. Some I would help if they needed it and others I wouldn't **** on them if they were on fire.
If I continue to argue with idiots it will be hard to tell which one is the idiot.

I was in a gun store not too long ago that wouldn't let me in with my hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses on.

    It was snowing.

And my sunglasses were actually my photo-chromatic glasses.

I went to Dairy Queen instead and had a Blizzard. Probably best for everyone.

I've been building some projects and doing some things around the house that had me going into town quite a bit to Menards, but I stopped when they implemented the mask policy. It wasn't easy today when I had to pay more for the same item elsewhere, but I'm not wearing a mask.

If I'm required to wear a mask someplace, I just won't go in and will shop somewhere else. Have yet to wear a mask and don't plan to. Only way I would if I could find a Zombieland style mask and it looks like my mouth it pouring blood (just cause). I have an immune system for a reason, if it's not up to the task I'm okay with the fact it's survival of the fittest. I've had maybe 10 days off work since this whole thing began so I'm at the point I just don't care if I get it or not. I was anti social and avoided crowds long before it was cool. Only difference now is the crowds are different sizes since my tolerance for people has went down. I walk in public as is without a mask out of spite and reality. If it took a pandemic for people to realize how bad their hygiene was and how much their common sense was lacking....I don't know. I'm over it all. At this point to me it's been a giant social experiment to see how far people will bend and comply to anything. If you've been out in public it's easy to see how the longer this drags on the weirder people get. Their common sense goes out the window, and so does their courtesy be it treating retail employees like crap or driving 20 miles under the speed limit thinking you're in a movie looking at a post apocalyptic world rubbernecking while you're holding up other people that need to actually go to work or who are trying to live their normal routine

I'm rambling, best I quit. Arguments like these are like arguing politics. Doesn't matter facts, it's what you believe in

The only reason I go to Menards is it is right around the corner. I do not buy treated lumber there, I am a carpenter and I suggest noone does. Their lumber is over priced and the chemical treatment is substandard.

Lowes. That's been my go to since all of this idiocy came into our lives.
Home depot used to get some of our business but screw their policy's right now. I may never go back.

This is all a matter of personal choices. We are supposed to have them but apparently those whom we have put in charge are testing our resolve. And we seem to be failing at being rugged individualists. Badly.

The problem is that well over 50% of people aren't even wearing them properly. Also if the mask, like some N95s, have the exhalation valve, they are not filtering the exhalation so it is literally doing no good in protecting others.

I truly believe many are missing the point of wearing the mask. Yes, a properly fitted N95, should/will filter the air that we breath in. Fact is, that most professionals do not wear it properly. One must be "fitted" to know which will work best, if at all. No one can just rip the plastic off and put it on. Size, proper positioning and such will result in a good fitted mask doing its job. But is that what we are looking for? I say NO.

What I believe the hope is that people who may be coughing or sneezing "particulate" matter will not contaminate others. It may prevent people from touching their mouths or nose and then touching merchandise. Double protection comes from everyone wearing a mask. Particulate matter will be blocked by the mask both out and in. In addition, it makes people more aware, alert to their surroundings and actions.

I think it is silly to think that the masks will do anything else. Cough or sneeze on fresh food, canned food, packaged food? Wipe your nose and touch a cart?

People forget that tens of thousands of people die every year from colds, flu and such that could have been prevented from basic hygiene. Wearing a mask is not the end of the world. People sneeze (allergies), cough and clear their throat. Nose tickles, you itch it. Wipe your eyes without thinking.

It's a simple mask that may help you or your loved one.....or a stranger.
