I've got some 55 and 70 grain that I use in my 6mm creedmoor. The 55 grains are moving at 4100 fps out of my 12 twist barrel with 46.5 grains of powder. It's a laser, but it's kind of heavy to carry with my tripod, heavy scope, caller, etc...
Wow, that's screaming. What barrel length are you running?

I had a SPR. It's "purpose" I guess was to sit in my safe. It is now in the hands of someone who is actually shooting it.

It was nice. I built it based on a White Oak Armament barrel.

Okay since all you enablers are pushing me to build this thing, what optic does the Indygo audience recomend? I would like to keep the scope cost under 500 dollars. I know it's going to have a balistic advantage 20 inch barrel, I already have the handguard, and a Mickulek break.

Glass kinda depends on your preferences. I prefer a clean German reticle so I went with a 3-9 Leupold VX-R with the Firedot 4 reticle.

It's no longer available but when I bought it, I paid $500 for it.

For some reason I have got a hankering to build an SPR. I have a fairly accurate bolt action in 223 that is capable of SPR distances. The only downside, if you would call it that, is the internal magazine is kind of a PITA to load. I also have a 6arc with 24 inch barrel if I want to reach out to 1k+. I am trying to justify the money spent on the components to build this thing. What say yall?
So you are thinking 300 Winchester Magnum, or maybe 338 Lapua Magnum, or possibly a 50BMG?

If you are going past one kilometer make sure it has enough knock down power for a 800lb Grizzly out past one kilometer :D

I can’t recommend doing the SPR enough. Built mine several years ago. Whole point was to emulate the Mk12 concept.

My take on the concept was to have a rifle designed to maximize 5.56 range and to deliver more precise fire than a carbine. All while maintaining a rifle capable of shooting on the move and short range engagements . Didn’t want a bench gun. Here’s what I ended up making. 9C6195B0-841E-467A-8718-3B00B8DA74C5.jpeg
18 inch Black Hole 1 in 8 stainless Hbar
free float rail wrapped for harmonics
    Strike Eagle 1-8
Rifle length fixed ACE skeleton stock

This combination paired with my 5.56 pet loads creates around .8 moa regular. It’s built for speed and precision for silhouette sized targets out to the max effective range of the cartridge. But still light and handy enough to be carried and used for close range shooting as well.

    Hornady 75 HPBT sorted
    2.240” OAL
    23.9 gr Varget
Federal Gold Medal small rifle primers

Hope you enjoy your SPR as much as I have mine. Cheers

I built up two for Coyote hunting. They run. Left is mainly a Seekins Precison build with JP rail and 18” Proof Research Carbon barrel in 6mm ARC. Right is mainly all JP Precision in 223/5.56.

Darn nice looking setup. Your concept is exactly what I had in my head.

I did one mostly because I had spare parts that spawned into a build. It’s the bees knees for prairie dogs, but a little long with the can on the end for much else.

Check out the Vortex PST Gen I 2-10x32 if you can find one. Great value for about $500 when you can find one.

Well, I have all the parts ordered. I am trying to do this on the cheap. I know, I know, SPR and cheap don't go together. The upper receiver is a SOTA arms, the barrel is a NBS 18" .223 Wylde Parkerized Spiral Fluted 1:8 Mid-Length, I already had an adjustable gas block, the handguard is a Nordic components 15.5 inch customizable tube which I already had, the muzzle device is an A2 brake. and to top it off, I found a, hopefully good deal, Bushnell 1-8 AR optic sfp on Brownells for 240 shipped. I will use one of the BCG and CH that I already have.
