It’s happened here a few times that I remember. The guy in salem that tried to blow the bridges into and out of town, and just a couple of years ago somebody put a bomb on the courthouse steps in Madison.

Im not trying to imply that the current political climate has nothing to do with it, but I think in quite a few of these cases it’s been a crazy local with a personal ax to grind with a specific person.

In 1972, my 8 man Army EOD unit averaged 2 IED's per day. In the 5 states surrounding Minnesota.

I have to say that the Terre Haute PD has done its share to encourage hate, but that doesn't excuse the IED.

I remember it happening because I worked with a guy that lived in salem at the time, we ribbed him about being from Salem BEFORE that incident, poor guy probably didn’t want to come to work when that happened.

I remember a staff Sergeant in the section next to mine came up rather hesitantly and asked me if I was from Salem Indiana. When I said yes he said you need to come with me and I saw it on TV.

We lived in Salem when I joined the Air Force, not from Salem originally. Need directions to where I grew up, was more like when you get to White River turn around and come back about 5 miles.
