Im seeing reports on Twitter(unconfirmed) that Facebook isn’t just down, it’s gone like someone deleted huge chunks of the code and data

I'm not seeing a downside.

Which brings me back to my completely unconfirmed and purely speculative thought that if a hack has anything to do with this, Facebook spiked itself to stop the bleeding.

Indeed. I would imagine that the hackers and scammers really, really want Facebook up and operating...

...'course, a hostage situation to extract a payment from FB? A show of force (China has been flying sorties into Taiwan)? Far fetched, but hey, we're speculating. (just read "Threat Vector", so the whole Chinese hacking thing is on my mind)

I was able to get in and change my password just now. I use the MacOS password generator, so it was just 18 random digits, not used anywhere else.
