Actually, I am inclined to believe that they do. They just don't give a damn about truth nor will they let it stand in the way of stirring up the mob. It reminds me of Tina Turner getting caught red-handed in wrong-doing and, rather than backing down, screaming "bust a deal, face the wheel" and successfully whipping up the mob.
