j-fed what is that brown tab on the Glock? Is it some sort of retention device? How does it work?

yes it is a retention strap that is attatched at the back of the holster and has a thick rubber strap that wraps around the rear of the slide of the pistol

I change into something with blued steel and walnut grips with a soft leather jacket.
