Delta Baggage Handlers. Recorded at the airport here in Atlanta. As you watch the video, notice the number of people watching from inside the terminal. Most people have no idea Delta does this. This soldier was a K9 soldier with a dog trained to find IED's. Yes, the second small coffin is the soldiers partner. This is a soldier and his dog who died for us. And Hats off to Delta.

Thanks for posting. This kind of stuff tends to choke me up.

I watched movie a couple years ago titled "Taking Chance". It was about the escorting of a Marine who died in battle from the battlefield to his hometown and family.

Not sure how accurate it was but I want to believe that it was fairly true to protocol. I thought it was a good movie.

I didn't even know they used commercial airlines for that.
I saw pictures of a AC 130 loaded with coffins.Maybe it's just for part of the journey. :dunno:

Commercial airlines take them from the body processing center. Military gets them to the center.

Taking Chance was a great movie.

This is the article, written by the Marine Lieutenant Colonel that escorted PFC Chance Phelps, that generated the movie: Taking Chance - Chicago Tribune

Props to delta. This is as far as I know the only airline I've seen do this and they do it because they want to. They don't have to they choose to.

As a regular flyer on Delta I've seen this before and it's very moving. I witnessed a similar event a few years ago and brought tears to my eyes. It can certainly put things into perspective.
