Not the bold part. Nor the first half.

Which was brought on by SCOTUS striking down the marihuana tax act in 1969 in Leary v US. Congress passed the controlled substance act in response.

Eliminate federal illegalization and then it goes away. What are they talking about "illegal growers"? If there are "illegal growers", then it's not legalized, plain and simple. Complaining about the smell? Well I don't like the smell of burnt popcorn. Can we get microwave popcorn made illegal? :dunno:

Added expense of law enforcement? If it's legal, then what "laws" are they enforcing? Anti-bad-smell laws? How about cleaning up the human feces on the sidewalks.

This is "Reefer Madness" level crap.

The other thing to consider is the high taxation on the "legal" stuff. Cut out the taxes, and the illegal stuff is cheaper even if priced somewhat higher. That has always been the issue with the idea of legalizing and taxing the :poop: out of it.

IMHO, it should be treated like tomatoes or any other garden plant. Or really any agricultural commodity like corn, wheat or soybeans. Are they heavily taxed?

    The government “weed is illegal!”
The states “weed is legal! You can’t tell us what to do!”
    The government “…oh…ok”

The government “making new machine guns is illegal!”
The states “were going to pass a law that says if it’s made here, never leaves here you can’t regulate it here!”
The government “The *u€|< you are!”

An effort to buy votes is more to the point and a very effective one to boot. Kind of like the republicans promising to put in a 5 stall abortion clinic in every county seat with $1000 incentive program and a 10 free Big Mac voucher.

That would be a step in the right direction IMO. It would still be illegal in IN, bet getting it off the Fed Class I list would be a good step.
It's difficult to give up the power and control over other's lives. Takes time to accept that adults can make decisions for themselves, particularly when you come from a party concerned with little else.

True Freedom is really scary to most of America. We have a bunch here that are deathly afraid of Freedom.

The only problem is progressives don't want anyone to be held responsible for their actions.
They don't want Hunter held responsible because he was an addict and couldn't control himself.
They won't want high drivers held responsible for driving through play grounds. "It wasn't her fault; it was the weed."
