Indiana Democrats want to legalize medical and recreational marijuana. They say it will generate a lot of tax revenue.
Obviously, the next step is to legalize prostitution. It will also generate tax revenue and attract conventions (except the FFA) to the state. Additionally, it will provide employment for unskilled young people who don't want to bother with schooling.

The only reason Indiana hasn't gone down that path yet is the coffers are in the black. States like MI and IL were in the red and needed the revenue.

Who really is the opposition to legalization? I really don’t think evangelicals are that motivated to fight it.

The pharmaceutical companies are the opposition. Indiana has a large pharma presence and influence is why we do not have legalization.

They want a slice of the pie as well. You can bet Lilly has been putting together something for quite a while. But do you think that this would hurt their pain killer revenues?

Like anything else the state has to come up with some legal definition of "intoxicated" relative to MJ if they decide to legalize it. Right now it's easy as the material itself is illegal in any amount, in or out of a person.

You don't think there could be an anti-decadence voting faction that sees encouraging young people to fritter away their lives getting high as perhaps a low percentage move?

Weed stays illegal because you can't grow Percocet in a pot on your back porch.

I personally find potheads the most annoying damn people on the planet and I think we wildly understate the harm caused by habitual use, but I still don't think anyone should be in jail for it. And, indeed, even in Indiana very few people actually are.

Just legalize it already. I don't actually think Democrats are serious about it, they take in too much pharma money. And so do Republicans.

I don't think purple is necessary and for one of the few times in my life I agree with Democrats on something. Pot, prostitution and all manner of other victimless crimes should not be made illegal by government.

If I want to smoke a joint and sell my body for sex to some 19 year old hard body girl with daddy issues, why should that be illegal?
