Just saw a story on WTHR's news broadcast that said that cicadas actually taste like shrimp, and if you have a shellfish allergy, that cicadas could possibly trigger it since they're closely related to crustacea and are of similar chemical composition. :n00b:

I don't know is Central time confuses them or they are afraid of Region Rats, but we're not supposed to have them here.

I was down at Lake Santee (Greensburg area) last weekend and they were coming in pretty thick. Haven’t seen or heard one here in southern Boone county.

Grant county is silent as well. The wife likes the sounds they make. Was hoping for a larger number to shy her away from that.
I think they still may be coming. I am still seeing signs of new ones emerging, even in areas where they already were a week ago or more.

Seems as if it takes some time for them to mature to singing age?

While I've been hearing them in the trees I saw my first one yesterday. It just flew into me and bounced off.

My wife and I are spending today cicada hunting. We have none in our area and we didn't see any last time.

Where are they today? Does anyone here have an emergence on or near their property we could come see?

Last time going north on 465 between 56th St. & 69 N exit on the east side they could be heard over the radio with windows up and a/c on high. Some days they were noticeably louder than others. They could be heard above the obnoxiously loud Harley I rode too.
That's where we are headed soon. Skiles Test and 71st Shadeland.
