No matter how effective any of the 13+ vaccines now in use turn out to be against covid-19,one thing is certain. Money is being made. Canada alone has pre-purchased more than 3 times the amount of vaccines than they have citizens(per Bloomberg) and they are not alone with many countries purchasing nearly 200%.

This is why adverse event reporting works to compare the total # of "reactions" to population having the same symptom, disease, or death rate.

IME, anything new that comes on the market has a bump in adverse event reporting as people are more likely to blame that "new" thing. Then after a time you get a better idea if it's significant. It will be a bit trickier with so many people getting vaccinated at once and a rush to confirm effectiveness and side effects both.

I don't know what hospitals she was in nor the exact situation in the UK. But you would fully expect to see empty hallways and wards if you are canceling routine procedures and not allowing visitors or nonessential people.
